The hotel was the site of Playboy model Stephanie Adams’ death, after she and her seven year old son fell from the 25th floor of the hotel.
Adams was married to the boy’s father, Manhattan-based chiropractor Charles Nicolai, and were in the midst of an intense custody battle.
The mother and son checked into the Gotham Hotel around 6pm and jumped from the 25th floor penthouse before 8:30am.
The two used a window at the rear of the building. Authorities said she pushed her seven-year-old son Vincent out the window of a 25th floor hotel before leaping to her death.
They landed on a second-floor balcony and were both pronounced dead at the scene.
A bell captain, who said his name is Shaun, told the Post that he suspects Adams pushed her young child out the window.
‘I suspect the boy went first. The mother just tossed the child out first, then followed him. (Guests) said they heard a light sound first, then a heavier sound,’ he said. ‘I’m still shook up about it.’
It didn’t appear Adams had left a suicide note.
