Shane Lynch, Keith Duffy and Brian McFadden have big dreams for Chorley FC.

The former Boyzone stars, who have teamed up with Westlife singer Brian, have become shareholders of the semi-professional football club in Lancashire.

And with a potential documentary on the way, the trio believe there is no reason why they can’t mirror Ryan Reynolds at Wrexham and Gary Neville at Salford City.

Brian, 44, told The Sun: ‘We have aspirations, just like Wrexham and Ryan Reynolds.I wake up some nights thinking, ‘We’re going to win the Premier League in the next 30 years’.

‘You have to dream big, and we’ve got to aim for the top.

And he joked: ‘Gary Neville and Ryan Reynolds may need to watch out!’

Keith, 50,  said of the locals’ pride in the team: ‘We’re from a working-class background in the north side of Dublin and it’s all about family.

‘It’s all about community — and coming here today, it’s like being home.

‘Hopefully we’re going to be the new adopted sons.’

Shane, Keith and Brian are the latest celebrities to purchase a football club.

Earlier this year, it was announced that the group were planning on filming a Wrexham-style TV documentary, according to new reports.

Speaking to The Sun at the time, Shane, 48, said: ‘We’ve just bought Chorley Football Club. We start filming a documentary on that pretty much next week.

‘It’s about getting the club into a financially successful place, to get the players paid well and to get the whole kind of town back in love with one of the oldest football clubs in the world.’

He added: ‘They [Ryan and Rob] have a big stadium — they have awesome stuff. We’re nowhere near that. We’re way down in the leagues. We’re a humble, hand-to-mouth club.’

The Irish group formed in 1993 and officially split in 2000, but have had numerous reunions since.

Originally a five-piece, member Stephen Gateley died in 2009 from complications of a congenital heart defect he didn’t know he had.

As well as buying the club, Boyzone are reportedly preparing to perform a string of shows around the country.

In 2018, Boyzone said they were splitting for good after releasing one final album dedicated to late bandmate Stephen Gately.

The band vowed that they would call it quits after their 25th anniversary tour and album that year.

Boyzone was formed by Louis Walsh, who also created Westlife, and he managed Ronan Keating when he went solo.

Louis, 72, was also part of the original judging line-up of The X Factor alongside Sharon Osbourne and Simon Cowell.

Boyzone have had six UK number one singles and of the 24 singles they released in the UK, 21 entered the top 40.

They have also had five UK number-one albums.
