A 10-year-old boy shot dead another 10-year-old after the juvenile ‘bragged’ about a stolen firearm he found stashed in his father’s car.
The child, whose name was not released because he is a minor, found the loaded gun inside the car when he went to fetch his father cigarettes from the vehicle.
He then opened fire shooting and killing Keith ‘KJ’ Frierson, 10, who was riding his bicycle around 4.30pm Saturday in the Sacramento community of Foothill Farms.
After the shooting, the suspected shooter fled to a nearby apartment. The young victim was found bleeding from his head and neck, Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said.
Life saving measures were performed by emergency responders and the Metro Fire Department at the scene. He was rushed to the nearest hospital where he later died.
The suspected shooter’s father identified as Arkete Davis, 53, reportedly tried to hide the stolen weapon in a trash can before he was taken into custody, an accessory to murder after the crime, NBC News reported.
His 10-year-old son who faces a murder charge was also arrested and taken to the Sacramento County Youth Detention Facility.

KJ’s distraught aunt told local KRCA News that her young nephew ‘didn’t deserve this.’ She created a memorial with balloons, candles, flowers and a stuffed teddy bear near the site where the shooting took place

‘He still had a whole life to live,’ she wept.
The victim’s aunt created a memorial lined with candles, a stuffed bear, red balloons, and white flowers, near the site where her family member was gunned down in the senseless act of violence.
Erika told the news outlet that her nephew had went outside the apartment to ride his bicycle when his life was cut short, as per the news outlet.
‘He wasn’t even outside 15 minutes, and the little boy shot my nephew,’ she said.

Davis is being held on $500,000 bail at the Sacramento County Main jail.
He was booked on several firearm-related charges, including child endangerment and for being an accessory after the crime, the sheriff’s office said.
He is scheduled to appear for his arraignment on Wednesday.
It is not clear when Davis’s son’s next court appearance is but, in Sacramento juveniles must be charged within 48 hours of arrest or detention.
Bail is not used, but minors can be released to parents or legal guardians, as per the news outlets.
Erika told the news outlet that the boy’s father is to blame just as much as the juvenile who killed her nephew.
‘Any parent in their right mind should know how to keep an armed weapon secure,’ she said.
‘My nephew’s blood is on y’all hands. Y’all allowed y’all son to do this to my 10-year-old nephew.’
She issued an emotional plea: Y’all parents need to know how to put y’all weapons away. Teach y’all kids right. Because this wasn’t right.’
