Boris Johnson has made a bid for the £30,000 life-size replica of the No10 door featured in Netflix’s The Crown, sources say.

The 13ft prop, which is going on sale alongside the lantern, railings and boot-scrapers, has caught the eye of the former Prime Minister who allegedly put in a bid as soon as the lot went live.

It is being sold by Left Bank Pictures — the London-based production company behind the hit historical drama — after the hit series came to an end last month.

A source told The Sun: ‘It gave everyone a good laugh. It’s a massive prop so nobody knows where Boris would put it if he wins.’

The team working on the sale allegedly joked that Mr Johnson is ‘so keen to get back inside No10’ that he is ‘buying it for his house’.

Proceeds from the Bonhams auction will go towards a new programme for film students called Left Bank Pictures – The Crown Scholarship at the National Film and Television School.

Alongside the auction, Bonhams is also putting on a free exhibition of 450 items for fans of the series, which ran for six seasons, to visit on London’s New Bond Street.

The exhibition includes the world’s only copy of the Gold State Coach, which Bonhams estimates will sell for up to £50,000 when it goes under the hammer.

Other notable pieces include a fiberglass replica of Westminster Abbey’s coronation chair, estimated to go for £20,000, as well as the bright blue gown worn by Claire Foy, which is expected to sell for £5,000 at auction.

The exhibition runs until February 5 and the live auction will start at midday on February 7.
