The body of a missing personal trainer who vanished while paddleboarding after he fell into a reservoir has been recovered.
Simon Daniels got into difficulty in the water at Dovestone Reservoir near Oldham on Sunday.
Police, paramedics and fire crews responded to the incident which occurred at the beauty spot at around 2.30pm that day.
Now Greater Manchester Police (GMP) has confirmed the search for Mr Daniels has come to an end after the discovery tonight.
The force said his death is not being treated as suspicious and thanked the public for their help.
Detective Inspector Laura Crossley from Oldham CID said: ‘Throughout this tragic incident we have been in close contact with Simon’s family and will continue to offer them our support as they come to terms with their loss.
‘His death is not being treated as suspicious and the scene has now been closed. A report is being prepared for the corner.’
The huge search operation was launched at the weekend after a man and woman fell into the water at the beauty spot.
Emergency services descended on the scene and the woman was rescued before being treated for hypothermia and shock.
GMP previously urged the public to stay away from the scene as they continued the search.
They said: ‘Officers were in attendance at Dovestone Reservoir until late last night to search for a man who had gone into the water earlier in the afternoon.
‘Specialist teams will make further assessments this morning as they continue their search, utilising all the appropriate resources available.
‘We would ask people to avoid the area as this work is carried out, and thank the public for their continued patience.’
