Bob Marley: One Love has been praised by film fans after its release in cinemas on February 14.
The biopic, which charts the life of Jamaican reggae singer Bob Marley, stars Kingsley Ben-Adir in the title role while Lashana Lynch plays his wife Rita.
Fans took to social media after being among the first to watch the film on Valentine’s Day with most giving it a positive review.
One fan wrote on X: ‘Saw Bob Marley’s One Love movie at the cinema today. Totally recommend. What a man!’
Another wrote: ‘If you’re even remotely interested in his story or music… highly recommend Bob Marley: One Love… loved it!’

The singer Omarion also gave his verdict on the film, writing: ‘Bob Marley is one of those larger than life artists. Growing up in a household that religiously played his music contributed to the conscious intention to my music.

The film synopsis reads: ‘Bob Marley: One Love celebrates the life and music of an icon who inspired generations through his message of love and unity.
‘On the big screen for the first time, discover Bob’s powerful story of overcoming adversity and the journey behind his revolutionary music.’
Marley died in 1981 at the age of just 36 from cancer.
Directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green from a screenplay by Zach Baylin, Frank E. Flowers and Terence Winter, the teaser also showed scenes of Marley relaxing with his family and playing them music.

Along with Ben-Adir and Lynch, the film’s cast also includes James Norton, Tosin Cole, Anthony Welsh, Michael Gandolfini, Umi Myers and Nadine Marshall.
Production on the shoot began in December 2022 in London, England, and wrapped in April 2023.
Bob Marley pioneered the reggae music genre by incorporating elements of ska and rocksteady to create his own form of world music that he considered to be ‘for the people.’
During his illustrious career, Marley recorded 13 studio albums, beginning with The Wailing Wailers (1965), and ending with Confrontation (1983), which was the only album to be released posthumously.
Among his many scores of classic hits are Redemption Song, One Love, Could You Be Loved, Exodus, No Woman No Cry, Is This Love, and Jamming.
