alert-–-blue-ivy,-13,-wears-another-strapless-dress-to-grammys-2025-with-beyonce-after-‘inappropriate’-gown-dramaAlert – Blue Ivy, 13, wears another strapless dress to Grammys 2025 with Beyoncé after ‘inappropriate’ gown drama

Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s 13-year-old daughter Blue Ivy Carter made a fashion statement Sunday as she attended the 2025 Grammy Awards Sunday at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles in a strapless blue ballgown.

On Sunday, the teenager, who has been eyeing a career in music, rounded out her ensemble with a necklace, hoop earrings and a bracelet, leading some online commenters to echo previous sentiments that she was dressing too mature for her age.

Her ensemble created a stir less than two months after Blue Ivy garnered controversy for her outfit at the Los Angeles debut of Mufasa: The Lion King in a strapless gold gown.

Blue Ivy faced some criticism earlier over the outfit she wore to the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California – a shoulderless gold gown with a long train – while accompanied by her famous parents and grandmother Tina Knowles.

‘My gorgeous baby girl,’ Beyonce, 43, wrote on Instagram last month the evening of the debut. ‘This is your night. You worked hard and you did such a beautiful job as the voice of Kiara. Your family could not be prouder. Keep shining.’

Blue Ivy’s ensemble generated a mass of social media reactions, as some lauded the second-generation celeb for her fashion sense and budding star presence on music’s biggest night of the year.

‘That gown is absolutely stunning!’ said one user. ‘Talk about making a statement at the #GRAMMYs!’

Another added, ‘She’s growing up so fast and becoming a style icon like her mom. I bet she was serving some serious looks on that red carpet.’

Said one user: ‘Blue Ivy commands the spotlight with effortless elegance, her presence a perfect blend of poise and star power. A fashion icon in the making, stealing the show without saying a word.’

Other remarks in support of Blue Ivy included, ‘Gorgeous like her mom’ and ‘so beautiful,’ with one user observing she was ‘no longer a baby.’

Others felt on X/Twitter said they felt the look was inappropriate for Blue Ivy’s age range.

One user described the daughter of the musical superstars as a ‘talentless nepobaby’ while another said she was ‘looking way too old’ in her outfit.

‘Why do children dress like grown-ups?’ one user asked, while another said, ‘Isn’t she like 12 ????why die she look and act like a 40 some ys old woman?’

One user took Beyoncé and Jay-Z to task for encouraging their teen daughter to dress in a mature manner: ‘Good Lord why are they dressing this little girl as a grown a** adult?’

In a GQ interview published this past September, Beyoncé said that her daughter worked hard to prove to her she deserved a spot on the stage during the tour.

‘She’s a natural, but I did not want Blue onstage,’ the singer said. ‘Blue wanted it for herself. She took it seriously and she earned it.

‘And most importantly, she had fun! We all watched her grow more and more every night before our eyes.’

Beyoncé said that accommodations had to be made with Blue Ivy’s school to streamline her academic schedule to the five-month, 56-show trek, noting that her eldest child has demonstrated talent in multiple areas.

‘Blue is an artist,’ she added. ‘She has great taste in music and fashion. She is a fantastic editor, painter, and actress. She has been creating characters since she was three.’

In the GQ interview, Beyoncé specifically mentioned that she wanted to keep her children’s upbringings as normal as possible amid the family’s rare level of fame and wealth.

‘One thing I’ve worked extremely hard on is making sure my kids can have as much normalcy and privacy as possible, ensuring my personal life isn’t turned into a brand,’ she said. ‘It’s very easy for celebrities to turn our lives into performance art.

‘I have made an extreme effort to stay true to my boundaries and protect myself and my family. No amount of money is worth my peace.’

Blue Ivy was on hand to support her mother Beyoncé, who finally won her first Album of the Year award at the Grammy Awards just 12 months after her husband Jay-Z had an epic public tantrum about her being overlooked by the Recording Academy.

Meanwhile, music superstar Taylor Swift was stunningly snubbed in all six categories she was nominated, despite her record The Tortured Poets Department being the best-selling album of 2024.

Kendrick Lamar was also a massive winner as the rapper earned two of the ‘Big Four’ awards with both Song Of The Year and Record Of The Year for his Drake diss track Not Like Us.

The final award which is considered part of the ‘Big Four’ was earned by Chappell Roan in the Best New Artist category which featured one of the most impressive fields of all-time in the category.

However, in the end it was Beyonce, 43, who took home the top prize for her on Cowboy Carter as she triumphed over: André 3000 – New Blue Sun, Sabrina Carpenter – Short n’ Sweet, Charli xcx – Brat, Jacob Collier – Djesse Vol 4, Billie Eilish – Hit Me Hard and Soft, Chappell Roan – The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, and Taylor Swift – The Tortured Poets Department.

In a special moment, Beyonce was presented the honor by several members of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

She was joined on stage by Blue Ivy as she began her acceptance speech by acknowledging them for their courage as she said: ‘I’d like to thank and acknowledge and praise all the firefighters for keeping us safe.’

‘I just feel very full and very honored. It’s been many, many years. And I just want to thank the Grammys, every songwriter, every collaborator, every producer, all of the hard work. I want to dedicate this to Ms. Martell, and just keep pushing forward, opening doors. God bless. Thank you so much. Thank you.’

The Ms. Martell Beyoncé was referring to is a Black country music pioneer named Linda Martell, whose work was featured on the star’s eighth studio album.

This comes just a year after Beyoncé’s husband Jay-Z used his acceptance speech at last year’s award show to condemn the Recording Academy for failing to give her the Best Album award despite already being one of the most decorated artists of all-time.

Beyonce finally wins best album at Grammys 2025 after Jay-Z's tantrum, Taylor Swift gets snubbed

While accepting the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award for his contribution to the music industry he mentioned his spouse’s past snubs.

‘I don’t want to embarrass this young lady, but she has more Grammys than everyone and never won Album of the Year,’ he said. ‘So even by your own metrics, that doesn’t work.

‘Think about that. The most Grammys; never won Album of the Year. That doesn’t work.’

Regardless, it was a historic night for the queen Bey as she finally earned her crown in the country genre and she was presented it by none other than the aforementioned Swift earlier in the night.

She was presented with the Best Country Album honor for her work on Cowboy Carter by the 35-year-old Red hitmaker.

She beat out an impressive field including: Chris Stapleton – Higher, Kacey Musgraves – Deeper Well, Lainey Wilson – Whirlwind, and Post Malone – F-1 Trillion.

Beyoncé was famously snubbed by the Country Music Association Awards back in September so no doubt to be bestowed this honor came as a complete shock.

Beyoncé looked in disbelief as Swift announced her as the winner and looked back at her daughter Blue Ivy and husband Jay-Z.

Beyoncé said during her acceptance speech: ‘Oh, my God. Wow. I really was not expecting this.

She added, ‘Wow. I want to thank God. Oh, my God. That I am able to still do what I love after so many years. Oh, my God. I would like to thank all of the incredible country artists that accepted this album. We work so hard on it.

‘I think sometimes, genre is a cold word to keep us in our place as artists, and I just want to encourage people to do what they’re passionate about. And to stay persistent. Wow.’

Beyoncé concluded her epic speech by thanking her family – including daughter Blue Ivy – and everyone who helped her work on the critically-acclaimed project.

Beyoncé said: ‘I’d like to thank my beautiful family. All of the artists that were collaborators. Thank you. This ones have been this album without you. I’d like to thank god, again, and my fans. I still am in shock, so thank you so much for this honor.’

The 2025 Grammys were hosted by Trevor Noah for the fifth consecutive year and set to raise funds to support fire relief efforts after the devastation caused by the Los Angeles fires which began on January 7 in Pacific Palisades.

Coming into Sunday’s show, Beyoncé dominated the list of Grammy Award contenders with 11 nods, including an Album Of The Year nomination for her venture into country music, Cowboy Carter. Behind Beyoncé, Billie Eilish, Charli XCX, Kendrick Lamar and Post Malone tied with seven nominations each.

Pop phenomenon Taylor Swift and newcomers Chappell Roan and Sabrina Carpenter scored six each. Women dominated the Album of the Year category, the top Grammy honor.

Beyoncé, winner of more Grammys over her career than any other artist, had never taken home the Best Album trophy, prior to Sunday. Swift has won the honor four times and had been in the running again with her breakup album The Tortured Poets Department.

Sunday’s winners were chosen by the roughly 13,000 singers, songwriters, producers, engineers and others who make up the Recording Academy.

Beyonce’s Cowboy Carter was viewed by experts and fans as a reclamation and homage to an overlooked legacy of Black Americans within country music and culture. It became the first album by a Black woman to land at number one on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart when it was released last spring.

The Beyonce album was snubbed, however, by voters for the Country Music Awards in September.

Beyonce’s other Grammy nods included record and song of the year for single ‘Texas Hold ‘Em.’ Her 11 nominations brought her lifetime total to 99, more than any other artist.

Prior to Friday, she had been tied for the lead with her husband, rapper Jay-Z, who has 88.

Only recordings commercially released in the U.S. between September 16, 2023 through August 30, 2024 were eligible for nominations.

Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. and Tammy Hurt, the chair of the Academy’s board of trustees said in a joint statement.

‘This year’s show, however, will carry a renewed sense of purpose: raising additional funds to support wildfire relief efforts and honoring the bravery and dedication of first responders who risk their lives to protect ours,’ they said.

They continued: ‘In challenging times, music has the power to heal, comfort, and unite like nothing else.

‘The Grammys will not only honor the artistry and achievements of our music community but also serve as a platform to amplify the spirit of resilience that defines this great city of Los Angeles.’

MusiCares and the Recording Academy have created the Los Angeles Fire Relief Effort and pledged $1 million to support musicians and those working in the industry who are impacted by the wildfires.
