Blink-182 played a secret gig at a Long Beach, California Denny’s restaurant on Thursday, October 26 as they referenced a classic meme.

The gig, which comes after the band’s co-headlining sets at the When We Were Young music festival in Las Vegas, was teased both in the band’s social media and during their sets at the festival.

Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge and Travis Barker played the surprise gig in support of their new album One More Time and upcoming tour. The album is the band’s first since DeLonge rejoined the band.

Blink-182 played Anthem Part 3 off their new album for the diner’s customers.

One fan took to Twitter/X to write: ‘blink 182 played in a denny’s in long beach tonight i genuinely cannot believe I typed those words lmao.’

New song: The gig, which comes after the band’s co-headlining sets at the When We Were Young music festival in Las Vegas  was teased both in the band’s social media and during their sets at the festival

The impromptu performance paid homage to the legendary 2013 performance by the Houston-based metalcore band Live Without in an abandoned Denny’s.

That event became known as the Denny’s Grand Slam. Years later, a short video from that set went viral with the lead singer screaming ‘What the f**k is up, Denny’s’ into the microphone.

That phrase become and often shared phrase and meme.

Hoppus referenced the meme at the When We Were Young festival on Sunday.

DeLonge had never heard of it at the time.

Rumors surfaced that Blink was using the Denny’s to shoot the music video for Anthem Part 3.

That was the only song played at the Denny’s gig.

A fan video from the gig showed DeLonge interacting with a child actor, giving the rumors of a video being made from the gig more weight.
