A beauty guru has revealed the simple difference between bronzer and contour – and how you should be applying the makeup products on your complexion.
The information was shared in a new video posted to TikTok by influencer Kelly Strack, a New York and New Jersey-based creator who boasts more than 691,300 followers on the platform.
Strack often takes to social media, including YouTube, to share her makeup tips, tricks, product reviews and tutorials.
And, this time, Strack had a very important lesson to teach viewers about the two cosmetic products, and why they’re so different from each other.
‘Contour and bronzer are not the same thing, they actually give completely different looks to the face,’ Strack began in the clip.

The makeup expert started off by explaining more about bronzer, telling the audience that you will want to go with one that’s very warm-toned.
‘Basically, you want to mimic the sun hitting your face and being naturally sun kissed,’ she said.
Strack took to the powder bronzer with a big, fluffy brush and began to apply on the ‘high points’ of her face.
‘So I’m going to put it on my cheeks directly, not underneath, on the top of the forehead, you can put it directly on the nose, basically all the high points on the face where the sun would naturally hit to give a super sun kissed look like you just left the beach,’ she furthered.
Now, for contour, Strack explained that you want to use one that’s more cool-toned, because you want to ‘create a shadow’ on your face.
‘I’m going to put it underneath the cheekbone to chisel that out, underneath the hairline a little bit to slim the forehead, and the jawline as well to mimic a shadow instead of the actual sun,’ she shared.
After she was finished applying the contour, she showed viewers a side-by-side of her face, with the contour on one side and the bronzer on the other.
The side with bronzer looked noticeably sun-kissed, while the contouring side was noticeably sculpted – a stark difference.

In the comments section, many viewers weighed in on which side they liked better – the contoured or the bronzed.
‘I’m a sun kissed girly through and through,’ one person wrote.
Another shared, ‘Team bronzer!’
‘Definitely needed this,’ someone else commented.
‘I’ve been bronzing since the early 2000s, that must be a millennial thing,’ one user joked.
