Heather Locklear is ‘doing phenomenal’ after getting sober following an epic meltdown in 2018 that saw her arrested twice, placed on a psychiatric hold and her home declared a ‘hazard’ by local first responders.
The Melrose Place star, 63, was photographed last week looking remarkably happy and healthy while shopping at a Pavilions grocery store close to her home in Thousand Oaks, California.
By her side was one of the two men credited with helping to keep her on the straight and narrow, her sober minder Bryan.
The pair both appeared to be in a chipper mood as they exited the store, with Locklear seen clutching a bright purple orchid and smiling broadly.
‘Bryan is a wonderful man,’ an insider told DailyMail.com. ‘He’s with her every day and he’s been nothing but kind to her. He’s made a real difference.
‘Heather is doing phenomenal. She’s doing great. As long as she stays on her meds, she is doing well.’

The new sighting underscores how Locklear has transformed her life since she reached an all-time low in 2018 when she was arrested twice in the space of four months and forced into rehab.
But Bryan isn’t the only man who has helped create a renaissance in Locklear’s life. Also holding her hand is fiancé Chris Heisser, 63, who she first dated in 1979 when both were students at Newbury Park High School in Los Angeles.

Although they split as Locklear’s career took off, the pair reconnected 40 years later after she divorced Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee and Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora.
The relationship got off to a rocky start when Locklear was arrested in February 2018 after the pair had a drunken bust-up that led to the cops being called.
A search warrant obtained by DailyMail.com and prepared by Deputy Keith Hall revealed that Locklear had said the fight began when Heisser ‘lied to her, and she threw a can of Red Bull at him’.
Hall went on: ‘She then told an officer that [Heisser] had strangled her and that she was afraid he would kill her.
The two were out on Valentine’s Day as she shopped for cards and gifts at her local supermarket. The TV star appeared to be in an upbeat mood

‘Locklear stated she did not lose consciousness but was strangled for a long time and thought she might pass out.’
Locklear was taken to hospital before being booked into the Ventura County Jail at 1am on a single count of felony domestic battery and four counts of misdemeanor battery on a peace officer.
Heisser, meanwhile, was picked up by California Highway Patrol in the early hours of the following morning and booked on a single DUI charge.
Afterward, it emerged Heisser was no stranger to the law himself and had served two years in prison following a 2011 conviction on fraud charges.
Nonetheless, the pair stayed together with Heisser dropping the domestic violence charge and supporting Locklear through two months in rehab.
He was also photographed attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings at Locklear’s side.

That wasn’t enough to prevent another brush with the law, with cops called to her home on June 17 that year.
On that occasion, it was her mother who called 911, telling the operator that the former Melrose Place actress was acting ‘erratically’, was being violent and was threatening to kill herself.
As a result of the repeated incidents, Ventura County Fire Department declared the home a ‘hazard’ in a report obtained by DailyMail.com which also described the situation as being a ‘suicidal who is violent’.
It added: ‘Hazard on file for this address. Resident has threatened to shoot deputies and has one handgun registered to her.’
A week later, the actress hit rock bottom after she downed a bottle of tequila and crashed her Porsche car into a pylon on the grounds of her luxury mansion.
She then attacked cops who arrived on the scene and was arrested on battery charges before being released from the Ventura County Jail but was rushed to hospital six hours later following an overdose.

Locklear was then placed on a 5250 psychiatric hold, which lasts for up to 14 days and includes a five-day detox as well as a mental evaluation.
A source close to the actress told DailyMail.com at the time: ‘The night [of the arrest], she was so hammered. The police came Sunday at six and then left.
‘When they came back at midnight, it was because she tried leaving, she tried driving out in her Porsche. She smashed her Porsche into a pylon in her gate.’
Locklear was sent to rehab yet again but unlike her 19 failed attempts to stay sober, this time she appears to have managed just that – all with the support of Heisser.
In April 2020, the same year she and Heisser announced their engagement, Locklear celebrated one year of being sober.
But it hasn’t all been plain sailing. In July 2023, DailyMail.com obtained photos of the actress behaving erratically and balancing on a ledge during an outing in Malibu.
A week later, a source told DailyMail.com that Locklear was back on the booze, revealing: ‘Heather is drinking. The family is very worried. Everyone feels helpless. Richie [Sambora], her family, especially her daughter Ava who loves her so much.’
Another rehab stint followed and Locklear began taking Ozempic, which along with curbing hunger pangs, also suppresses the impulse to drink heavily.
No longer a disheveled wreck whose home is a police hotspot, with Heisser’s – and Bryan’s – support, Locklear appears to have finally seen off her demons and got a happy ending at last.
