On Saturday, a BBC star revealed they had quit their radio show just three months after it began – but they insisted the move ‘isn’t the end, but the beginning’.
Gemma Oaten began hosting her own show on BBC Radio Humberside in May, but on Instagram she told fans she and the BBC had parted ways.
Explaining her decision to leave in a lengthy caption, the former soap star, 40, wrote: ‘What joy it’s been to join @bbchumberside.
‘My last show covering yesterday was a beaut experience, I cried (I’ll explain why soon, so much to say & not enough characters to say it – usual for me.
‘I started with BBC Humberside in May & can’t express how much this job has meant…no actually…means to me! This isn’t the end, it’s the beginning.’

Gemma, best known for her role as Rachel Breckle in Emmerdale, continued the caption: ‘I can’t thank the fab @rob_dowell_radio enough for seeing something in me to give a chance to.
‘Rob, the whole building loves you & there’s good reason. You care & go above & beyond.

‘Thanks to the beaut @charl.oloughlin who has been incredible since day 1, & to all the gang & DJ’s who have made me feel so welcome, valued & part of the family. It’s been a breath of fresh air.
‘To my main man @john anguish – I’ve no words to describe my gratitude. 3mths ago you showed me the radio desk & said I’d be driving it… I laughed! I thought ‘you must be mad?!’ But you did it! Your patience, knowledge & spirit makes you the most aces teacher & now dear friend.

‘Oh & don’t forget the jumping out of the plane thing… Definitely something someone petrified of heights never thought she’d say! (still time to donate via [link] in bio for @seedsupportuk).
