Police will investigate how a former pupil armed himself with two guns before entering classrooms to execute nine people in Austria’s worst ever school shooting.
Authorities have confirmed the 21-year-old gunman, who killed himself in a toilet after opening fire at his old school in Graz this morning, was the legal owner of two weapons found at the scene.
It emerged he was once a pupil himself at the school but didn’t finish his studies.
Nine people were killed, six women and three men, and 12 remain seriously injured in hospital following the attack, described as a ‘dark day’ in Austria’s history.
Chancellor Christian Stocker has declared three days of national mourning will all public events to be postponed in response to the shooting.
