At least sixteen people have been injured – three critically – after a truck intentionally plowed into a Texas Department of Safety building in Brenham after a police chase.
The Texas DPS said the suspect has been detained and there is ‘no further threat’ to the community, while police said the 18-wheeler truck was stolen.
Cops say the crash at around 11.17am was deliberate, though the motive remains unknown and the suspect has not been publicly identified.
Three medical helicopters were called to transport the critically injured to hospital after the crash.
The driver refused treatment at the scene, according to Abc13.

Images of the smash showed 18-wheeler’s front end was smashed in and covered with debris from the front doors of the office.
A large, red tractor-trailer hauling material on a flatbed in the parking lot of the building.
Debris was also scattered out front near a gaping hole in the entrance.
Texas DPS officials said the crash happened at the agency’s office in Brenham, Texas, which is 75 miles west of Houston.
Officials said there are reports of multiple serious injuries but did not specify how many people were affected or the extent of the injuries.

Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives Dade Phelan said authorities were ‘monitoring a serious situation in Brenham involving a stolen commercial truck that intentionally caused injury to innocent Texans.’
