Police have charged a former Sydney real estate agent after allegedly finding drugs hidden in the boot of his car.

Arvind Pillay, 36, was employed as a property agent in Sydney’s northwest when he was spotted in his white Mercedes at a known drug hangout in Redfern in January.

It is claimed in court documents that the former Raine & Horne Quakers Hill agent appeared nervous when police informed him the area was known for drug supply, to which Pillay replied: ‘That’s disgusting’.

Police realised the 36-year-old was on parole for drug dealing and decided to search his car after discovering an ice pipe allegedly sticking out of the driver’s side door.

Almost 50 grams of methamphetamine and a small amount of heroin was allegedly found inside ziplock bags in the boot of his car.

A business card inside the ziplock bags for the community corrections office, where he reports while on parole, was also allegedly found inside the ziplock bags.

Pillay was arrested and taken to Mascot Police Station, where he was charged with drug supply and suspected stolen goods.

Police went through one of the four phones Pillay allegedly had in his possession and found a slew of text messages sent to a friend about the search and arrest.

‘Bro, I’m being searched and arrest,’ Pillay wrote to a friend.

Another message read: ‘I’m going to jail … Come down please and say it was urs. I will pay for everything.’

Pillay has been in custody since his arrest and has not yet entered pleas to the charges against him. It’s understood he will apply for release in the coming weeks.
