Angela Rayner’s former partner is considering legal action against Labour over allegations of voter fraud, it has emerged.
Sam Tarry claims that an online voting system used by party members puts Left-wing candidates at a disadvantage in selection contests, it was reported last night.
The MP for Ilford South says Anonyvoter damaged his bid to be re-selected as the Labour candidate for the coming general election.
He lost a local selection vote to Jas Athwal in October 2022 and is now considering issuing legal proceedings in an attempt to force Labour to publish the voting records.
Mr Tarry, who split up with the Opposition’s deputy leader last autumn, may even try to get an injunction to stop his rival standing in the east London seat, according to The Daily Telegraph.

Mr Tarry, a member of the Socialist Campaign Group, said: ‘The Labour Party owes it to its members and voters to resolve this democratic outrage before it becomes a full-blown crisis that will harm our electoral performance. The use of Anonyvoter must be stopped immediately.’
Labour MP Beth Winter is also in a row with the party over Anonyvoter in her failed attempt to be selected for the new Merthyr Tydfil and Upper Cynon seat.
There is no suggestion the Anonyvoter system itself is faulty.
Labour said: ‘We have full confidence in the integrity of both selection processes and the use of Anonyvoter.’
