The fire caused extensive structural damage to the property and parts of the roof collapsed as a result.

A large hole also formed in the garage due to the destruction caused by the blaze.

Dozens of firefighters were seen working quickly to contain the fire and stop it spreading to nearby homes.

A West n Police spokeswoman told Daily Mail members from the Arson squad are now investigating the cause of the blaze.

The spokeswoman confirmed that no one else is unaccounted for.

A spokesman for the DFES confirmed that fire crews attended the scene and extinguished the fire.

Forensic officers are also working with the arson squad, in an effort to piece together how the shocking incident unfolded.

Residents in neighboring properties were woken up by the sound of fire trucks arriving at the scene to fight the blaze.

Alex who lives opposite the property said his partner woke him up and told him what had happened.

‘We were asleep at the time and the missus woke up just to the sirens and then she woke me up to say the house (across the road) was on fire,’  he told the West n.

‘By the time we got out here there was a fire truck and they were straight into it and fighting it.’

Several other neighbours told the newspaper that the home had recently been sold.

‘It was a pretty rude awakening,’ one neighbor said.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
