Amazon/MGM’s Masters of the Universe live-action adaptation of Masters of the Universe has found one of its villains with Alison Brie signing on.
The 41-year-old Community star has come aboard the project, playing the key villain role of Evil-Lyn, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The Evil-Lyn character is second-in-command to Skeletor, who has not yet been cast in the project, with Evil-Lyn practicing dark magic with a crystal orb and wand.
Brie will join Nicholas Galitzine (The Idea of You) as He-Man with Camila Mendes (Riverdale) playing Teela, He-Man’s captain of the royal guard and potential love interest.
The Evil-Lyn character was originally voiced by Linda Gary (who also voiced Teela and Queen Marlena) and played by Meg Foster in the 1987 live-action movie.

Plot details for the new live-action film are being kept under wraps at the moment, so it isn’t clear how closely it will stick to the original animated series.
The Masters of the Universe franchise started as a 5.5-inch action figure line launched by Mattel in 1981.
Each action figure would come with a mini-comic that would detail the character’s origins, which ultimately paved the way for children’s books and a DC Comics run.
Two years after the toys debuted, the Filmation animated series He-Man and the Masters of the Universe debuted in the fall in 1983.
The series was set on the planet of Eternia, centering on Prince Adam – who would turn into He-Man when wielding his Power Sword and saying, ‘By the Power of Greyskull…’
His primary nemesis was Skeletor, who would assemble various minions from his lair in Snake Mountain to try and defeat He-Man and his cohorts.
The animated series spawned 130 episodes that ran over two seasons before going off the air in 1985.
It would ultimately spawn a number of animated spin-offs, comic books, video games and a slew of other stories.

She is best known for roles on AMC’s Mad Men and NBC’s Community, though she is also an accomplished writer, penning films Horse Girl, Spin Me Round and Somebody I Used To Know, the latter of which was directed by husband Dave Franco.
