Miranda Hart confirmed she is happily married earlier this week as she shared the happy news live on The One Show after a flurry of rumours.

The comedian, 51, appeared on the BBC show to promote her new book, I Haven’t Been Entirely Honest With You, in which she writes about her mystery new husband.

Miranda has been Britain’s most single woman for more than 15 years and is known for her hilarious romantic mishaps with eligible bachelors.

Despite meeting her husband later in life, Miranda has previously tied the knot three times as she portrayed her iconic characters on TV.

Over the last two decades, Miranda’s famous characters in her BBC self-titled sitcom Miranda, Call The Midwife and Not Going Out have all got hitched.

Miranda

Miranda catapulted to fame with her self-titled BBC sitcom in 2009, in which her fictional mother Penny exclaims ‘Such fun!’ whenever she thinks her daughter is about to bag a boyfriend.

It follows her quest to find ‘the perfect man’ and her dalliance with dishy chef Gary.

In 2015, Miranda finally tied the knot with long term love interest Gary, played by Tom Ellis on her comedy series.

The pairs perpetually faltering relationship had been at the heart of hit comedy and during the New Years Eve special they finally said, I do.

7 million viewers tuned in to see Miranda finally walk down the aisle with Gary, putting aside the years of disasters, blunders and misunderstanding that had kept them apart.

She really kept fans guessing until the last minute though, with Miranda only racing to declare her love to Gary and finally walk down the aisle at the end of the episode, having spent the whole show previously saying she wanted to make a clean break.

Call The Midwife

During the 2012 series finale of Call The Midwife, Miranda, who portrayed Camilla ‘Chummy’ Browne finally got a happy ending as she married PC Peter Noakes.

After years of being unlucky in love, fans of the show watched her strike up an awkward courtship with PC Noakes, played by Ben Caplan.

However things were not originally smooth sailing as Chummy took PC Noakes home to meet her mother but the introduction went less than swimmingly.

Chummy became so overwhelmed by her mum’s disapproval that she called off the wedding.

With a little encouragement from her fellow midwives, Chummy stood up to her mother and took her policeman back, getting married at the series’ close.

The wedding episode attracted 9.2 million viewers.
