MSNBC host Michael Steele launched a fiery attack on ‘problematic’ Republicans and told them to ‘wake the hell up,’ while claiming Elon Musk had been given ‘absolute power.’
On Saturday’s The Weekend, Steele discussed with co-hosts Alicia Menendez and Symone Sanders Townsend whether the judicial system would be able to keep Donald Trump’s takeover at bay.
The panel discussed a quote likening Trump and Musk to ‘barbarians at the gate’ and that calling lawyers ‘to tell them they’re trespassing isn’t going to halt their advance.’
‘I could not agree more,’ Steele said, before Townsend asked, ‘What would you have us do?’
The question launched the former RNC chair into a rant ripping into Republicans, as he claimed that they don’t seem to care that America is ‘under assault.’
‘I’d just like you to show that you give a damn! That you got a little emotion about the fact that people are losing their jobs indiscriminately,’ he said.
‘I’d just like to see somebody wake the hell up and get excited about the fact that your country is under assault!’
Steele’s heated monologue further attacked Trump for handing over ‘absolute power’ to first-buddy Musk.

MSNBC host and former RNC chair Michael Steele said in a fiery rant that he’d ‘just like to see somebody wake the hell up and get excited about the fact that your country is under assault!’

The panel discussed a quote likening Trump and Musk to ‘barbarians at the gate’ and that calling lawyers ‘to tell them they’re trespassing isn’t going to halt their advance.’
‘They’re not at the gate anymore, they’re in your bedrooms, they’re in your living rooms, they’re in your businesses… They got your data, dumba**, they got all your stuff,’ he continued.
‘Elon Musk has his tentacles in everything you’re doing – not just off of X but now he’s in the Treasury department, he’s in the labor department, he’s in the department of homeland security. And nobody seems to give a damn.
‘All I want somebody to show that they care enough to get off their fat ass and say something about it,’ he continued.
Menendez alleged that Republican officials were just as responsible for staying quiet.
Steele interjected with: ‘The hell with Republicans! They’re not going to do anything, they’re the problem!’
The MSNBC host’s rant comes as Trump and Musk addressed their close relationship, claiming the media would not ‘divorce’ them.

‘Elon Musk has his tentacles in everything you’re doing – not just off of X but now he’s in the Treasury department, he’s in the labor department, he’s in the department of homeland security,’ Steele said
As the pair sat side by side in an interview with Sean Hannity, the topic of conversation turned to their relationship in power together.
‘And now, I see, they want you two – they want a divorce. They want you two to start hating each other,’ Hannity said.
Trump responded with claims that the media try to pit the two against each other.
‘I see it all the time,’ the president said. ‘They tried it. Then they stopped. They have many different things of hatred.
‘Actually, Elon called me. He said, ‘you know, they’re trying to drive us apart.’
‘I said, ‘absolutely.”
Trump added: ‘It’s like the craziest thing. But you know what I have learned, Elon? The people are smart. They get it,’ with Musk adding: ‘Yeah, they do, actually’.
