An abusive boyfriend whose fiancée took her own life after enduring two years of horrific domestic violence has today been jailed for six-and-a-half years.
Ryan Wellings, a 30-year-old landscape gardener from Bispham, Lancashire, was sentenced for assault and coercive and controlling behaviour following the death of Kiena Dawes, 23, in July 2022.
Wellings, who was described by Kiena as a ‘monster’ in her suicide note, was earlier cleared of manslaughter following a six-week trial at Preston Crown Court.
