He got behind the wheel of a garbage truck on his road to the White House, and now a garbage truck will join Donald Trump’s inaugural parade.
The truck was one of Trump’s memorable stunts on the campaign trail, topped only by his stint working the fryer at a Pennsylvania McDonald’s to troll Kamala Harris over her statements about working at a California McDonald’s as a student.
On January 20th, the truck will be driving up Pennsylvania Avenue, in a procession that includes military bands, student ensembles, and horse displays, the Trump transition confirmed to the Hill.
The truck gambit gave Trump a way to punch at President Biden, while firing up his appeal to working class voters in battleground Wisconsin.
The Truck’s appearance gives Trump the chance to troll Biden once again. (Biden will no longer be president by the time the parade occurs.)
The Trump transition didn’t provide additional details on the truck.
Biden himself had committed an unforced error while responding to comedian Tony Hinchcliffe, who referred to Puerto Rico during a big MAGA rally at Madison Square Garden as a ‘floating island of garbage.’
That prompted Biden to tell Latino activists that ‘The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters — his — his demonization of Latinos is unconscionable, and it’s un-American.’
Trump’s team seized on the opportunity. Within hours, Trump was climbing into a gleaming white garbage truck emblazoned with his ‘Make America Great Again’ logo in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Trump carried the state. It was a smart photo op, although Trump may have gone overboard when he compared the garbage truck driver was a dead-ringer for Cary Grant.
Video of Trump, 78, twice missing the truck’s door handle also sparked conspiracy theories.
Trump ended up carrying Wisconsin, along with rust belt battlegrounds Michigan and Pennsylvania.
The Trump team is dribbling out details of inaugural festivities
Biden’s ‘garbage’ comment took off, in part due to Trump allies comparing it to Hillary Clinton’s famous ‘basket of deplorables’ line, even though Biden’s team said the president had been referring to the specific Trump supporter, not all of them.
The garbage truck may be the first to be part of an inaugural parade, although D.C. often uses its fleet of garbage trucks for security to help barricade government buildings.
Trump’s inaugural committee says there will be 7,500 participants from 23 states.
Others marching will be Butler County first responders from the Pennsylvania county where a would-be assassin shot Trump, grazing his ear.
The parade will also feature ‘America’s Patriotic Tractor’ from West Des Moines, Iowa, military bands, Florida firefighters, and more.
