A shopper was left horrified after discovering a giant cicada nestled inside a salad purchased at their local Woolworths.
The customer found the dead insect when they were halfway through the Korean-style salad bought at a Woolies store in NSW.
‘Found this big fella in my Korean Style Salad today… halfway through eating it (the salad),’ the man wrote alongside photos of the cicada.
In photos of the spoiled salad, the man used his hand as a reference to show just how large the cicada is beside the corn, cabbage and shredded carrot.
Aussies were quick to share their thoughts on the revolting find.
‘Nah that’s a salada,’ one person wrote.
Oh s**t. Someone actually got their Woolies worth,’ a second joked.
‘You underpaid. The cicada topping has extra charge,’ a third commented.
‘Could have been worse… could have only found half of him!’ a fourth said.
‘Given I was half way through the salad there was a solid chance it could have happened,’ the man replied.
One commenter suggested there was a silver lining.
‘That is how you know the salad is fresh and chemical free,’ they said.
Looks like the growers didn’t spray it with nasty pesticides. It would have been washed, so not too bad.
‘But I’d still probably take it back for a refund/replacement.’
Daily Mail has contacted Woolworths for comment.
