Two murder investigations are underway in Melbourne after the bodies of a man and woman were found overnight.
Police were called to a Cowper Street property in Footscray in the city’s inner-west for a welfare check just after 8pm on Friday. A woman was found dead at the scene.
Half an hour earlier, police had attended a home on Iffla St in South Melbourne, just across the Yarra River, where they found a man dead at that property.
The homicide squad have launched two investigations over the separate incidents, though they will probe any possible links given the close timeframe.
Both the man and the woman are yet to be formally identified.
Crime scenes have been established at both locations with police seen on Saturday out the front of 149 Rainbow Garden.
It is understood the woman was found in a car outside the location.
Victoria Police said no arrests have been made at this stage but they believe other people were involved in both cases.
Police have urged anyone with information to contact them.
