A beach shack on the Central Coast that was a favourite getaway for cricket legend Steve Waugh is set to go under the hammer.

The three-bedroom, one-bathroom pad was purchased by the grandparents of Lynette Waugh, Steve’s wife, in the 1950s for a mere $250.

No price guide has been listed for the cosy, classically styled holiday home.

Real estate agents have estimated that the home is expected to sell for over $1.6million, according to The Daily Telegraph .

Situated just minutes from Patonga Beach, 100 km from Sydney, the holiday shack has been in Lynette Waugh’s family for 70 years.

Lloyd and Opal Doughty, Lynette’s grandparents, bought the charming dwelling as a summer escape.

‘Over time, we outgrew the house, so various family members bought houses there too, until we had four holiday homes in the family,’ Lynette told the publication.

‘All the babies have been unofficially christened in Patonga Creek as their welcome to the community.’

Lynette confirmed that she and Steve still have a holiday home nearby and have no plans to sell it.

Built just 100 metres from gorgeous Patonga Beach, the getaway has been beautifully maintained and still exudes its 1950s features.

Highlights include a classic front verandah with decorative iron lacing and large windows.

Situated on a large block with an expansive backyard, it’s an ideal purchase for buyers seeking a fixer-upper.

Other features include polished floorboards and a ‘sunroom’ which can double as a third bedroom.

The couple made headlines in 2015 when they sold their Sydney home for an impressive $ 1.9 million dollars.

It was a huge windfall after they snapped up the original southern Sydney property on the site for a modest $56,000 in 1986.

Located in Alfords Point, 28kms from the CBD, they built a five-bedroom, two-storey Federation style home on the land.

The family home, which boarders on to Mill Creek Reserve, boasts high ceilings, a versatile floor plan and multiple living areas, including a ‘stylish lounge, family, rumpus and atrium’ .

Waugh, 59, rose to fame after making his debut in first-class cricket in the NSW side in 1984.

The champ married Lynette in 1990 and the couple share three children: Rosie, 28, Austin, 24, and Lilli, 21.

The middle-order batsman went onto first captain ‘s Test Team in 1999.

Known as the Aussies most successful captain having scored 41 wins in 57 Tests, Steve hung-up his pads for good in 2004.
