Fans have been left in shock by Post Malone’s ‘awful’ performance at the 2024 Country Music Association Awards on Wednesday.

While many of the country stars wowed the audience at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville that night, Post was savaged on social media.

The 29-year-old took the stage that evening to perform the award show’s opening number California Sober with Chris Stapleton.

He then delivered a solo rendition of his ballad Yours, dedicated to his daughter, whom he welcomed with his fiancée in May 2022.

Many viewers were appalled by the quality of his voice, and quickly shared their unfiltered reactions on X, formerly Twitter.

‘The dogs in my neighborhood just stopped howling after that god awful performance by @postmalone,’ joked one.

‘This Post Malone song is… awful,’ wrote another. ‘Know your range man. You’re a party song guy. You can’t sing good enough for slow, sad songs.’

‘Post Malone sounds terrible lmao,’ giggled one X user as another said: ‘I love Post Malone but he needs to stick with pop or whatever it was he was singing before’.

‘That performance was awful. Can we stop inviting him to ruin the awards shows? He butchered a Joe Diffie song last year. It’s enough,’ opined one viewer.

‘Post Malone hang it up ,you sound like crap I can sing better than you can !!! Sorry for being a troll, but some of this is just terrible,’ groaned one watcher.

A formidable array of performers was assembled, including Chris Stapleton, Post Malone, Kelsea Ballerini, Jelly Roll, Keith Urban Kacey Musgraves and Shaboozey.

Iconic singer-songwriter George Strait, 72, has been designated the recipient of this year’s Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award.

Morgan Wallen leads the nominations this year with seven, while Cody Johnson and Chris Stapleton nabbed five nods apiece.

The CMA Awards ignited a controversy this year by not giving any nominations to Beyoncé, who released her first country album Cowboy Carter this year.
