A pupil at Cardiff secondary school has died suddenly.
Stephen Jones, headteacher at the city’s Cardiff High notified parents and carers in a letter today.
Mr Jones said Cardiff High year nine pupil Zac Trevett had died and pupils are being offered support.
He passed on condolences to the boy’s family.
It is understood he passed away on Sunday night (November 10).
Pupils in his year group have been told about the tragedy and bereavement support has been posted on the school’s website.
In a letter to parents and carers, Mr Jones said: ‘I am writing to inform you that your child’s form tutor has had the sad task of informing the class of the sudden death of a pupil in year nine – Zac Trevett.
‘When someone dies, it is normal for their friends and family to experience a range of different feelings like sadness, anger and confusion.
‘The pupils have been advised that staff are available to support them should the need arise and I will also place guidance information relating to grief and bereavement on the school website.
‘Our thoughts and prayers are very much with Zac’s family at this sad time.’
