Two Congressional Democrats have slammed their party’s views on transgender athletes in the wake of Kamala Harris’ election loss to Donald Trump.
Trump repeatedly made what he calls ‘transgender insanity’ a key plank of his platform on the trail, having said he would ban trans athletes in girls’ sports.
Massachusetts Rep. Seth Moulton, who ran unopposed to retain his seat, and New York Rep. Tom Suozzi, who won and then held George Santos’ Long Island seat, are both speaking out.
Moulton, who was also heavily critical of former mentor Joe Biden, said that the Democrats ‘spend way too much time trying not to offend anyone rather than being brutally honest about the challenges many Americans face.’
‘I have two little girls, I don’t want them getting run over on a playing field by a male or formerly male athlete, but as a Democrat I’m supposed to be afraid to say that,’ he told the New York Times.

Trump has remained outspoken about what his plans are for the transgender society in the US, as he said he would ‘just ban’ transgender women from participating in sports
However, this appears to be a change of tune for Moulton, who briefly ran for president in the 2020 Democrat Primary.

He voted against passing a Republican-backed bill – the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act – as recently as last year.
Moulton is also the co-sponsor of the Democrat-pushed Transgender Bill of Rights, which would allow trans participation in sports matching their gender identity.
Tom Suozzi won reelection Tuesday in a race against Republican Mike LiPetri, a former state lawmaker, a victory possibly aided by tweaks to the district´s boundaries earlier this year that trimmed out a more conservative section of Long Island.
The Democrat also slammed the party’s kowtowing to the transgender lobby in an interview with the Times.
‘The Democrats have to stop pandering to the far left. I don’t want to discriminate against anybody, but I don’t think biological boys should be playing in girls’ sports.’
He added that ‘Democrats aren’t saying that, and they should be’ but Suozzi’s record also contains pro-trans legislation.
Suozzi previously supported the Equality Act which makes federally protected classes out of gender identity and sexual orientation and sponsored an act to stop bullying gay and trans students. .

When asked what he would do ‘about the transgender issue in women’s sports,’ Trump said he plans to ‘just ban it.’
‘It’s such an easy question,’ he said as he smiled.
‘Everybody in the room and you know that answer, we’re not going to let it happen.
‘Just yesterday they had a volleyball match, did you see that? Where a person that transitioned, we have to be very careful because this can terminate your political career if you say it slightly off, but transitioned from man to female,’ the president elect added.
The former president was seemingly referencing Blaire Fleming, a San Jose State University (SJSU) volleyball player.
Fleming, a redshirt senior, has been cited as the reason four schools have forfeited matches against SJSU so far this season because of safety concerns.
Most recently they went viral for spiking a ball and hitting another player forcefully in the face. Even the broadcaster noted the woman’s pink face after she was hit.

‘Other people even in volleyball they’ve been permanently, hurt really badly,’ he continued.
‘We absolutely stop it. You can’t have it. It’s a man playing in the game.’
Faulkner then hopped in and pressed Trump further on the topic.
‘So how do you stop it? Do you go to the sports leagues? Go to the Olympic counsel?’ the Fox News host inquired.
‘You just ban it. The president bans it, you just don’t let it happen,’ Trump quickly responded.
The crowd of women erupted in praise for the ex-president’s policy proposal.
Kamala Harris expressed an opposite opinion during an interview that same day.

Awkward moment Kamala Harris tries to dodge NBC question on transgender surgery
‘Every transgender inmate in the prison system would have access,’ Harris was seen saying in 2019, that has been repurposed by the Trump campaign into an ad attacking the Democrat.
Baier asked her if she still holds the same beliefs.
‘So are you still in support of using taxpayer dollars to help prison inmates or detained illegal aliens to transition to another gender?’ Baier asked.
Harris answered without saying what she personally believes: ‘I will follow the law, a law that Donald Trump actually followed.’
‘You’re probably familiar with now, it’s a public report that under Donald Trump’s administration, these surgeries were available on a medical necessity basis to people in the federal prison system,’ she added.
The law she spoke of referred to the policy set in place under the Trump administration before she and Biden entered the White House.
The policy allows incarcerated transgender people to receive gender-affirming medical care if it’s required based on an individuals needs.
