Bette Midler has deactivated her X account following Donald Trump’s stunning political comeback, but not before hurling an insult at the new president – calling him ‘a downright moron.’

The Hocus Pocus star, 78, is among the liberal celebrities dismayed by the 78-year-old Republican’s landslide victory in the November 5 US presidential election after he beat former vice president Kamala Harris, 60.

Prior to deactivating her account, she opened up about her disapproval for the President-Elect in a lengthy statement on X, quipping that his mind ‘is a virtual vacuum.’

She penned: ‘When a candidate for public office faces the voters he does not face men of sense; he faces a mob of men whose chief distinguishing mark is the fact that they are quite incapable of weighing ideas, or even of comprehending any save the most elemental — men whose whole thinking is done in terms of emotion, and whose dominant emotion is dread of what they cannot understand.

‘So confronted, the candidate must either bark with the pack or be lost… All the odds are on the man who is, intrinsically, the most devious and mediocre — the man who can most adeptly disperse the notion that his mind is a virtual vacuum… The Presidency tends, year by year, to go to such men.’

‘On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.’

Prior to the election, Midler — who is a devout Democrat — publicly backed Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz’s ticket for the White House.

In a tongue-in-cheek post on her X account, she shared a photo of a bottle of champagne with a sticky note placed on it that read ‘If Kamala wins’, and a bottle of Drano drain cleaner with a note that read ‘If Trump wins’.

At the time her account was still running, the post was well received with her fans, receiving upwards of 57K likes and 7K reposts.

The long-time LGBTQIA+ ally also called out Trump for the viral moment of him simulating oral sex on a microphone stand while speaking at one of his final campaign stops.

She wrote to her audience of 2M followers, ‘I saw Trump simulating a b*** j** on his microphone yesterday! UGH! Looks like somebody’s getting ready to try to win the popular vote…in prison!’

Beside Midler, Vice President Harris had garnered various endorsements from a string of high-profile celebrities that had pledged to cast their ballot for her.
