John Daly says he has evacuated Tampa, Florida with Hurricane Milton closing in on the state – weeks after revealing Hurricane Helene destroyed one of his family homes.

The 58-year-old took to Instagram to send a message to his followers on Wednesday, saying: ‘Here we go again – Sending prayers A for all of us who have family, friends & neighbors that is threatened today by #Milton.

‘I cannot believe this is happening again – everyone please be safe! #weevacuated #prayforflorida.’

Daly also posed a radar picture with an arrow pointing to where he lives, saying the storm is anticipated to strike at around 8pm local time Wednesday evening.

The eye of the storm is also expected to hit Tampa late Wednesday just around midnight, based on forecast models. Two inches of rain per hour have been predicted.

Earlier in October, Daly opened up on the damage Helene caused on his home in the Sunshine State.

‘It’s devastating,’ Daly told PGATour.com. ‘It’s the worst I’ve ever seen. I hope everyone gets safe and gets their homes back. My heart just goes out to everybody.

‘You live in Florida, you have to understand that’s going to happen, but not like this. I didn’t think it would be this bad. I’m just glad everyone is healthy, that’s the main thing.’

Daly added that he and his family weren’t living in the home that was struck, with the golfer mainly based in Arkansas.

He also wrote on Facebook after Helene: ‘For everyone that has reached out, my family are all safe, but all our homes are not as water is pouring out of every crevice.

‘Total loss and devastation after living here all my life! I still cannot imagine ALL we have lost, but we are SAFE and all can be replaced! Praise God!’

Daly wasn’t the only member of the golfing world affected as footage earlier this week showed the devastating impact of Hurricane Helene on Augusta National – the world’s most famous golf course.

The home of the Masters was hit by the ‘catastrophic and historic’ hurricane as it passed through Georgia at the end of last week, causing serious damage to the usually-pristine grounds of the notoriously-private club.

The devastation stretched along South Carolina, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and Virginia – with officials fearing even more bodies will be discovered.

After coming ashore in Florida, Helene quickly moved through Georgia before soaking the Carolinas and Tennessee with torrential rain.

One small mountain town in North Carolina has been left in ruins – with locals describing the community of Swannanoa as ‘entirely erased’.
