KFC is giving its chicken tenders a makeover.

The fast food chain has offered them for years but they have been made using the chain’s ‘extra crispy’ recipe, rather than its ‘original recipe’ that it uses for its chicken on-the-bone products.

Customers inundated KFC with requests for tenders to be made that way too.

Bosses have listened – and tenders will be prepared with the chain’s secret blend of 11 herbs and spices from October 14.

They will also be cooked slightly differently. They are pressure-fried just like it’s classic fried chicken rather than fried normally in oil.

KFC is also introducing a new dipping sauce to go with the revamped tenders.

The new Comeback Sauce is described by the chain as a zesty, peppery compliment to the menu item.

Fans celebrated news of the return of the Original Recipe online.

‘Their OC is so much better than crunchy munch extra crispy,’ one customer wrote on Reddit.

‘That fresh delight of an original recipe coated chicken tendy with that moist goodness, I’d buy thirty!!!!!’ another wrote.

‘The chicken sandwich should be original recipe as well,’ a third added.

Moving tenders to original recipe was first tested in select Ohio restaurants last April.

They were then rolled out in Nashville and West Palm Beach locations over the summer.

KFC has been working hard to please its fans as fast food and casual dining chains are fighting to keep inflation-weary customers happy.

Earlier this summer KFC entered the value wars with its $5 meal deal after seeing sales fall earlier in the year.

McDonald’s, Burger King and Wendy’s all have their own $5 meal deals – with a choice of a burger, four chicken nuggets, fries and a drink.

Olive Garden, like KFC, has also opted to bring back fan favorite menu items after seeing a significant drop in sales this year.

The Italian chain, with 900 locations, will soon offer Steak Gorgonzola Alfredo and Stuffed Chicken Marsala again.
