A woman charged with the murder of her husband allegedly ‘butchered and dismembered’ his body before disposing of his remains in rubbish bins.
NSW Police will allege Nirmeen Noufl, 53, cut up the body of 62-year-old Mamdouh Noufl using knives and power tools before disposing of his remains in various rubbish bins in industrial areas across Sydney’s southwest.
An investigation into her husband’s disappearance began in July 2023 when police were called to a home in Juno Parade, in Greenacre, in Sydney’s west.
The 62-year-old small business owner had not been seen since May 2023 with police declaring his disappearance suspicious at the time.
The mother-of-eight was arrested at a hospital in Bankstown on Thursday afternoon and charged with murder DV.
She was refused bail and was remanded in custody after facing court on Friday.
Detective Superintendent Danny Doherty told a press conference on Saturday that the Greenacre home underwent a ‘significant clean-up’ and parts were re-floored.
‘The remains have not been located and police doubt they will ever be located due to the nature in which they were disposed of,’ he said.
Supt Doherty said police would allege Noufl provided detectives with ‘various versions’ of the whereabouts of her husband.
She allegedly suggested he had flown to Egypt to visit family however family members were not able to locate or reach him.
Police will allege Noufl had allegedly taken over her husband’s phone and social media accounts ‘to disguise the fact that he had been killed’.
The victim’s bank accounts were also used until July 2023 when family friends of the couple reported the 62-year-old as missing, Supt Doherty said.
The couple moved from Egypt to Sydney over 30 years ago and had lived in the Greenacre home for the last five to 10 years.
Supt Doherty said the couple’s eight adult children, aged in their 20s and 30s, are still ‘processing the information’ and are likely to be in distress.
The cause and manner of the victim’s death are still unknown but police will allege Noufl killed her husband ‘intentionally’.
Supt Doherty said the victim had had close ties to his community in western Sydney and had owned a small business until his death.
Noufl is due to return to Burwood Local Court on December 11.
