Winston Churchill would ‘turn in his grave’ over the current state of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR), claimed Robert Jenrick, as he warned Tories today it is ‘leave or die’ for the party.
Mr Jenrick, one of four leadership contenders hoping to build support in Birmingham, said there ‘isnt’ a future’ for the party unless they campaign to quit the international treaty.
His rival frontrunner Kemi Badenoch will today face questions from Conservative members after her remarks on maternity pay sparked a row on the first day of the party conference in Birmingham.
