Katy Perry was seen greeting fans as she signed autographs outside her Melbourne hotel after her AFL Grand Final headlining gig on Saturday.

The US popstar, 39, took to the stage at the MCG in front of 100,000 AFL fans as she led the pregame entertainment before the Brisbane Lions soared to victory over the Sydney Swans.

Katy, who was paid $5million for the gig, belted out a whole host of her best-known hits including Roar and Firework, as well as two tracks from her new album 143.

She was widely praised by her vocals during the show, though her use of CGI effects left many viewers at home completely baffled, and even sang a duet with Tina Arena.

After the hotly-anticipated performance, Katy took the time to greet fans and sign autographs as she arrived back at her luxury Melbourne hotel.

The I Kissed A Girl hitmaker was seen sweetly hugging one young fan while she also larked around and seemingly struck a Roar pose for the group.

Katy put on a very leggy display in leopard print hotpants and a matching collared top as she signed autographs for her delighted fans waiting outside the hotel.

She gave herself a few extra inches in a pair of heeled black knee-high boots and appeared to be in jovial spirits after her epic 20-minute AFL set.

During her headlining gig, Katy left fans stunned when she kicked off her set with her smash hit Roar, despite it being widely theorised she wouldn’t play the number.

There had been feverish speculation that the track had been blacklisted because it would show supposed bias to the Lions, with Katy herself even admitting she had been warned against singing it.

However, despite the rampant theories, Katy threw caution to wind by performing the song some fans consider the unofficial anthem of the underdogs, who went on to win.

She then caused further surprise by not singing Hot n Cold, despite it famously being the theme tune to MasterChef  and jokingly regarded by many as Aussie’s true ‘national anthem’.

She performed her hits Teenage Dreams, Dark Horse, Firework and California Gurls and sang I Kissed A Girl with Tina Arena, but notably missed out Hot n Cold, even though it was widely expected to feature.

Following reports she was restricted to just one new song by AFL bosses, Katy also belted out two tracks from her 2024 album 143 – Lifetimes and Gorgeous, her collaboration with Kim Petras.

Fans at home took to social media to mercilessly mock her choice to accompany her real-life performance and dance moves with an array of ‘bizarre’ CGI effects.

Fans watched as huge futuristic effects appeared above the grounds of the stadium, including gold love hearts and a galaxy-style black hole, with many poking fun at the early-2000s video-game look of the CGI.

Katy was reportedly hoping her AFL show would ‘revive’ her ‘faltering’ pop career and help promote her new album 143, which has been met with divisive reviews.

Her long-awaited seventh studio album 143, which references the expression ‘I love you’, didn’t get off to a good start with music critics as it received lukewarm reviews.

One damning review of her first album in four years from a top entertainment outlet declared that Perry ‘struggles to reclaim past glory on the flat 143’.
