Several primary school students and one adult have been injured after a lighting rig fell onto them.

The accident unfolded at Barramurra Public School at Oran Park, south-west of Sydney, on Wednesday.

Multiple ambulances were sent to the school with staff urgently calling parents.

A young boy called Kayden said ‘we were doing a showcase, then this light fell on some kid and a couple of people got injured’.

‘A little girl got injured really bad. She was bleeding, but she’s OK,’ he said.

Veronica, a grandmother who had flown in to see her granddaughter perform at the school, described it as ‘scary’.

A NSW Ambulance spokesman said they were called to the school at around 12pm, while video showed at least one child being wheeled out on a stretcher.

‘Paramedics treated multiple patients at the scene, most of whom were children, and also one adult,’ he told Daily Mail .

‘They were treated for minor injuries, with one child being transported to Campbelltown Hospital and two children being taken to Westmead Children’s Hospital.

‘They are all in a stable condition with minor injuries.’

Ambulance crews were still at the school as of early afternoon on Wednesday.

A NSW Police spokesman said ‘nobody was seriously injured’ in the incident.

A huge crowd of anxious parents was seen forming outside of the school following the incident.

A school spokesman addressed the gathered parents and carers and said their children could not yet be signed out of the school.

‘Please just make your way home and give us an hour or so and then we’ll be able to have more contact with you,’ he said.

A performance that was scheduled to take place at the school this afternoon has been cancelled.

Children dressed up in brightly coloured outfits were seen walking around the school.

‘It’s scary. The first thing you think about is “How is my grandchild?” Veronica said.

Another woman, who was picking up her grandchild, was heard asking her granddaughter, ‘Is everyone OK? Did you see the light fall?’

Daily Mail contacted the NSW Department of Education for comment.
