A cop who attended a Brazilian university is under investigation for aiming her gun at a student during a fight in the classroom.

The law enforcement officer confronted a female student, who refused to lower her voice while a mixed physiology professor was conducting a lecture at Estácio College in the East Coast city of Maceió last Friday.

The Civil Police officer was seen arguing with the woman, who had been talking about her son’s birthday party, according to Brazilian news outlet G1.

At one point, the student raised her hand at the cop, who attempted to smack it down.

The student then stood up and went face-to-face with the cop before punches were thrown.

Students intervened and held back the cop, who pulled out her gun and pointed it at the student, sending her classmates running out of the room and shouting for help.

The Civil Police’s 2nd District responded to the incident and took the officer and the students to the station for questioning and released them.

The cop told investigating agents that she was carrying her unloaded gun because she did not want to leave it in her car after she had concluded her shift.

The names of the two students have not been released by the school or authorities.

‘The General Inspectorate of the Civil Police has instituted administrative proceedings to analyze and investigate the conduct of the police officer, respecting the adversarial system and the full defense of those involved,’ the Alagoas Civil Police said in a statement.

Estácio College, a private institution, issued a statement indicating it was also conducting its own investigation.

‘The institution informs that the police were called after the disagreement between the two students, which occurred on Friday night,’ the school said. ‘

‘We clarify that the incident will be analyzed and all appropriate meaáures will be adopted,’ Estácio College added.

‘The campus management regrets the incident and reinforces that it works to promote a respectful and ethical academic environment, repudiating any type of violent behavior or behavior contrary to the institution’s values.’
