Lucky economy-class passengers on Air Canada flights have the chance to travel in style and luxury thanks to a rare ticket upgrade.
A Toronto woman posted a video showing how surprisingly comfortable and spacious her flight was given she only purchased an economy ticket.
Samantha Gracie captioned the video: ‘Economy got a facelift!!’
The text over Samantha Gracie’s video reads: ‘Air Canada economy seats got a much needed update.’
With only two seats per row, plenty of leg room and buttons to recline and adjust to the passenger’s liking, this was not typical economy-class seating.
Samantha soon learned that this is not the new normal for economy Air Canada passengers. With her newfound knowledge, she updated her caption, writing, ‘Apparently this is a rare aircraft upgrade and not what you’re guaranteed with economy.’
Air Canada offers an upgrade on eligible flights, where passengers who bought an economy or premium economy ticket can experience flying on a very special plane, according to the Air Canada website.
In the post’s comment section, an Air Canada flight attendant chimed in to offer her expert insight on Samantha’s experience.
Morgan, who posts frequently about her life as a flight attendant, commented: ‘This is our Jetz aircraft, usually used for our charters! Unfortunately don’t expect to see it on every flight.’
Charter jets are used for unscheduled flights and are usually booked for specific, private journeys.
These charter jets are always business class.
During the pandemic, Air Canada began using the business-class only jets for premium economy flights to help promote social distancing.
But this promotion only lasted from December 2020 to January 2021.
Now, on the rare occasions when Air Canada’s Jetz charter planes are available, they can be used for regular flights.
