Hundreds of commuters were hit by long delays during peak hour after a boy was found injured on the train tracks in Sydney’s west.

The 13-year-old boy was found by police on the tracks at Homebush Station around 5.30pm on Thursday.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and the boy was treated by paramedics for head injuries before he was taken to hospital.

There were delays on the T1 North Shore and Western line and buses were also affected.

The disruption also affected train services on the T2 Inner West and Leppington line as well as the T3 Bankstown, T8 Airport and the T9 Northern Lines.

Passengers were also warned to expect delays to services heading to the Blue Mountains, Central Coast and Newcastle.

Services were back up and running within the hour, however a police operation got underway.

A NSW Police spokeswoman told Daily Mail the police operation has ended.

Commuters have been warned to expect disruptions across the network due to the incident.

Sydney Trains urged passengers to plan their trip in advance due to the lengthy delays in an update they provided on X.

‘Allow extra travel time due to a person near the tracks between Flemington and Homebush,’ they wrote.

‘Trains near the affected area may stop between stations for longer than normal’.

‘Please check transport apps, information screens and listen to announcements’.

Earlier, some passengers on the T1 North Shore line said train services had been suspended until further notice.

Some services heading towards Lidcombe on the T3 Bankstown line were cancelled.

Transport for NSW has been contacted for comment.

Anyone with information about this incident has been urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

More to come.
