Wine experts have spilled the tea on bubblies that are similar to or better than Veuve Clicquot and Moet champagne, and one of them is a ‘Veuve Dupe.’
For those looking for solid quality at a low price, Lucia, a wine educator and sommelier, named three sparkling wines in a TikTok video that she said were less than $15 at Trader Joe’s at the time.
The three wines that Lucia praised were: Trader Joe’s Sonoma County Sparkling Wine, Scholss Biebrech Troken (dry), and Gloria Ferrer Sonoma Brut.
However, some bubbly drinkers may be looking for something more specific – a bottle that can serve as a dupe for pricier brands. Enter, Cremant – a sparkling wine made by using the same traditional method as champagne.
Not only is it a frequent substitute, but its price tag is nowhere near that of a bottle of Veuve or Moet.

‘Realistically, most people cannot afford Veuve or Moet on a regular basis,’ Samantha Capaldi, co-founder of Faff Wine Co, told DailyMail.com.
‘I believe that everyone deserves to enjoy good quality sparkling wine any day of the week and not just for a special occasion.’
The expert also recommended that Veuve or Moet enthusiasts try a bottle of wine that she called a ‘dupe.’
‘One bubbly I often refer to as the “Veuve Dupe” is Roederer Estate Brut (half the price for $28.99) at my large wine retailers like Total Wine & More and select general grocery stores like Frys,’ Capaldi wrote.
Enthusiasts who are willing to drink wine that is extremely similar to champagne can try Cremant – a sparkling wine made by using the same traditional method as champagne.
‘Another option I love is recommending a Cremant, which is still made in France but typically cheaper than a Champagne but still excellent quality,’ she wrote.
The sommelier also praised the Louis Bouillot Perle De Vigne Cremant de Bourgogne, which she wrote was $22.99 at ‘most large wine retailers.’
Like Capaldi, sommelier and content creator Kim Kachmar praised Veuve and Moet champagne but also recommended Cremant de Bourgogne.
Kachmar added that when it comes to any kind of wine, it ‘all comes down to what you enjoy the most.’
‘If you love the taste of Veuve and Moet, that’s great. If you prefer Cremant, that’s fine too. Get what works best for your budget and palate, and you can’t go wrong,’ she shared with DailyMail.com.

Marshall Tilden, a certified specialist of wine, told TikTok users that they should try Cremant de Bourgogne when looking for a substitute in a 2023 video.
Tilden poured a glass of Henri Champliau while explaining how the bubbly is different than champagne but worth a try.
‘Veuve is usually a chardonnay-based champagne – probably about half chardonnay, the other filled out by the pinots,’ Tilden said.
‘The apple and the green fruit is maybe a little bit fresher and a little more prevalent than it is on the Veuve.’
The wine specialist also claimed the bottle of Cremant he had was ‘literally a fraction’ of the average price of a bottle of Veuve champagne.
