Two men have now been charged over the alleged stabbing of a businessman and socialite.
Yusuf Khan, 34, was allegedly attacked near the intersection of Perth’s Newcastle and Lord Streets while sitting in his Mercedes-Benz at 5pm on Thursday.
Mr Khan is one half of the glamour couple behind Modco Residential, a home builder business which entered into administration in July 2023.
Police believe up to two alleged knifemen targeted Mr Khan while he was waiting at a red light.
He was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital with leg injuries and has since been discharged.
One man, 41-year-old Pham Dang Nguyen, has already been charged for his alleged role in the incident.
The Bayswater man was charged with one count of unlawful wounding and one count of common assault.
Another 37-year-old from Dianella was also charged with one count of unlawful wounding and one count of common assault after he was arrested on Friday.
Mr Nguyen has yet to enter a plea and was refused bail by the Perth Magistrates Court on Friday.
He will next appear in court via video link on September 20.
The Dianella man will face court on Saturday.
Mr Khan and his wife, Cynthia Lu, launched Modco in August 2020, promising 20-week timelines for construction projects.
After the builder announced it had ran out of money, tradies claimed they were still owed pay and half-finished builds were left across the city as customers grappled with insurance claims.
During the height of the couple’s construction career, they reported gross sales of $80million from 84 customers within a year of launching Modco Residential.
As many as 50 creditors were left $4million out of pocket, which includes Ms Lu herself who claimed that as a primary shareholder she was left $2.1million in arrears.
