Brandon Aubrey’s huge leg proved again on it’s one of the best in the NFL on Saturday night.

In a preseason game against the Las Vegas Raiders, the Dallas Cowboys kicker booted a 66-yard field goal that easily cleared the cross bar.

His kick from beyond midfield would have tied the longest field goal in NFL history, a record held by Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker.

Tucker set the record in Sept. 2021 against the Detroit Lions on a game-winning kick that bounced off the cross bar and into the netting.

Aubrey’s field goal also ended a half, but it was at the end of the second quarter, not the fourth. The former Major League Soccer draft pick’s mammoth boot did not clip the cross bar.

NFL’s NextGen Stats estimated Aubrey’s field goal would have been successful from 72 yards, which would have smashed the standing record.

After Aubrey’s kick flew through the goal posts, he was mobbed by his teammates, knowing how rare the feat accomplished in front of their eyes was.

The Cowboys ended up defeating the Raiders 27-12 in one of each team’s trio of NFL regular-season tune-ups.

Successfully making a 66-year-old field goal is especially impressive when paired with Aubrey’s story of only starting to play football in 2019.

He’s a soccer player by trade and how you get maximum power behind a football compared to a soccer ball are different.

Yet, Aubrey just matched one of the toughest NFL records to break. Now he just needs the opportunity in a game that counts.
