Kitty called his dish ‘perfection’, whilst Joe labelled the cabbage and bacon stunning as ‘stunning’  and Riyadh said he would be ‘happy’ to be served the same dish by a chef.

Meanwhile, Steps star Ian H Watkins did not receive such universal acclaim from the panel.

Kitty was impressed with the way he had prepared the sirloin steak, but both she and Riyadh complained that the fat needed to be crispier.

Joe joked that he had been ‘punched’ by a load of different flavours at once after tasting the garlic mushrooms.

But the Tragedy singer managed to win them over with his chocolate marmalade pudding, in a nod to the dish his twins Macsen and Cybi, eight, like at home.

In the end, both H and Craig went through to the semi-final, whilst Edith Bowman failed to make it through with her carpaccio dish.

In the end, it was felt that her aubergine parmigana ‘lacked ambition’ and so she vowed to ‘cheer’ for her former costars as she bowed out of the episode.

She hugged both men on the way out and admitted she had had ‘a ball’ on the programme even though she was ‘gutted’ to have been eliminated.

H said: ‘I thought I was a goner, I’m lost for words!’ whilst Craig remained humble and thanked the judges.
