A woman’s abduction at a Gold Coast bus stop has sparked a major police operation.

Witnesses saw a woman being forced into a ute on Highfield Drive in Merrimac at 4.30pm on Sunday.

Multiple police units, including Polair, searched for the ute which was found abandoned in a Bunnings car park in Burleigh.

The woman escaped the situation and sought help in McDonald’s while two men fled the scene, the Goal Coast Bulletin reports.

The incident took place near All Saints Anglican School. 

One parent wrote on X that the school was locked down. 

‘Just had to lock down my kid’s school due to the manhunt in Burleigh Waters,’ the mother wrote. 

The woman is understood to be uninjured and recovering from her ordeal. 

A Queensland Police spokesperson said officers were investigating the incident.

‘Investigations are ongoing into an incident in Merrimac this evening,’ the spokesperson told the publication.

‘Police have located the vehicle and have spoken with the parties involved.

‘There is no threat to public safety.’
