The head of Colombian soccer was arrested at the Copa America final on Sunday.

Ramon Jesurun is facing three felony counts of battery on a specified official or employee.

Jesurun and his son, Ramon Jamil Jesurun, are accused of fighting security guards near a tunnel where the media had gathered at around 12:20am on Monday.

According to a Miami-Dade Police Department arrest report obtained by WPLG, the pair became ‘irate’ at a security guard and started ‘shouting at him.’

The incident involving the Jesuruns allegedly turned physical when a security guard asked the men, who were ‘yelling in his face,’ to step backwards and placed a palm on Ramon Jesurun’s chest.

Police say that led the older Jesurun to push that guard, with his son then grabbing the guard’s neck and punching him.

The 71-year-old Jesurun was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center at around 4:15am on Monday – hours after Colombia were beaten 1-0 by Argentina in the final.

The arrests came amid an extremely chaotic and dangerous night in Miami, as thousands of ticketless fans barged their way into the stadium and some supporters were nearly crushed.

In total, according to a press release from the Miami-Dade Police Department, 27 people were arrested and 55 were ejected from the match amid the madness.

Univision estimated that Hard Rock Stadium was 7,000 people over capacity for the Argentina-Colombia matchup, as fans packed the space and initially filled the aisles before some were removed.

The game, meant to kick off at 8pm local time, was also delayed more than 80 minutes.

Hard Rock Stadium is scheduled to host seven games at the 2026 World Cup.

Notably, though, the Copa America was organized by South American federation CONMEBOL, while the World Cup will be organized by FIFA.

Fox Sports Mexico has published video of what looks to be the incident on their Instagram page, showing a man in a gray shirt like the younger Jesurun was in his mugshot.

Both men were scheduled to appear in Miami-Dade court on Monday.
