21:02

WATCH: Watkins wins it late

England fans, lap this up.

I’m sure this goal will be watched over, and over, and over again throughout the rest of this week.

It’s a superb finish by Ollie Watkins, but what I am here for are the celebrations.

Pure pandemonium!

20:59

BACK-TO-BACK EURO FINALS FOR ENGLAND

I honestly can’t believe that England have done it.

Whatever you feel towards Gareth Southgate, what he has done for English football is sensational.

The players and Southgate are now celebrating with their fans to the soundtrack of ‘Sweet Carlone’.

This party may last a while!

20:55

FULL-TIME: England 2-1 Netherlands

ENGLAND ARE IN ANOTHER EUROS FINAL!

This Three Lions side just don’t know how to lose, they have delivered on the big stage again.

Ollie Watkins the hero off the bench with a sensational goal in the 90th minute.

England fully deserved it, and now it’s time for them to party!

20:54

England 2-1 Netherlands

Jude Bellingham wins a free kick with nearly five minutes gone of additional time.

Surely this is it???

20:54, 92'

SUBSTITUTIONS: England 2-1 Netherlands

Conor Gallagher and Ezri Konsa are on for England to help see this game out.

Brian Brobbey and Joshua Zrkzee are on for the Dutch in a last-ditch attempt.

20:53

TWO added minutes

There will be just two added minutes for England to defend their lead.

Signal Iduna Park is a cauldron of noise and it’s England fans that are making all of it.

Can they see it out?

20:50, 90'

Goal: England 2-1 Netherlands (Watkins 90')

OLLIE WATKINS SURELY WINS IT AT THE DEATH!

With seconds remaining of normal time Watkins smashes the ball into the far corner to break Dutch hearts.

The substitute is sent through by Bukayo Saka and the chance is tough, but he somehow squeezes it in.

The England substitutes run on to the pitch to celebrate, it’s pure bedlam in Dortmund.

Another final looms!

20:49, 88'

BIG CHANCE! England 1-1 Netherlands

Cole Palmer has the chance to net a late winner… but he blows it!

The ball is switched to Luke Shaw on the left and he fires a brilliant ball across the area.

It rolls to Plamer who sees his name in lights, but he blasts high and wide.

Palmer has to do so much better there, that’s a big chance!

20:47, 87'

YELLOW CARD: England 1-1 Netherlands (Saka)

Cody Gakpo is causing England some real problems by running straight at them.

He has his eyes set on the box and just as he is getting there Bukayo Saka hacks him down, who then gets a yellow card.

The free-kick is put behind for what looks like a corner by John Stones … but the referee gives a goal kick.

Very weird.

20:44, 84'

England 1-1 Netherlands

Brilliant defending from Marc Guehi to keep the scores level.

He is scrambling back as Wout Weghorst tries to break free in the box and shoot, and somehow he throws his body in the right place to block the ball.

Incredible desire.

20:43

WATCH: Saka's goal chalked off

England thought that they had done it, and so did I.

It’s a brilliant move from England, their best of the second half by a mile.

Unfortunately, the flag was up.

20:42, 80'

SUBSTITUTION: England 1-1 Netherlands

Gareth Southgate is finally making some more changes.

Surprisingly, Phil Foden is being hooked after his best performance of this tournament.

His replacement isn’t a bad one, though, Cole Palmer enters the action.

Ollie Watkins also comes on with goalscorer Harry Kane the man to make way.

Some big calls.

20:40, 79'

DISALLOWED GOAL! – England

Bulkayo saka sens the England fans wild as he smashes in from close range, but the flag is up.

VAR checks and quickly declares that the goal will not stand.

It is a great move by England, Phil Foden feeds Kyle Walker to pull back for Saka.

It’s all for nothing, though.

20:38

'Shaw change hasn't worked'

Craig Hope, Mail Sport, in Dortmund:

The Shaw change hasn’t worked. He’s not getting forward into the space Trippier was. England have faded here and feels like they could be holding on final 10mins. It’s getting into “Gareth, do something!!” territory.

20:37

England 1-1 Netherlands

Gareth Southgate needs to make some changes now, this match is screaming out for them.

The Netherlands are taking control of this match, and they don’t look like relinquishing it.

I think my call has already been answered as I type this, Ollie Watkins is set to come on.

20:35, 75'

BIG TACKLE! England 1-1 Netherlands

Kyle Walker, what a tackle that is!

Cody Gakpo is racing away on the left and with one more touch will be clear.

But Walker races across and perfectly times in sliding tackle to take the ball away from him.

20:34, 73'

England 1-1 Netherlands

Bukay Saka is down holding his face after a collision with Nathan Ake.

Nothing is given despite the fact that Ake hits him with his hand. I guess he has to just get on with it.

It’s starting to get feisty…

20:32

'England momentum gone'

Aadam Patel, Mail Sport, in Dortmund:

England have got to withstand this spell of Dutch pressure. The momentum England had in the first half has gone. It’s that time in the game now where one moment of brilliance or one mistake could be the difference.

20:32, 72'

YELLOW CARD: England 1-1 Netherlands (Bellingham)

Jude Bellingham is like an excited puppy, and that eagerness earns him a booking.

His eyes light up as he senses a 50/50 challenge with Stefan de Vrij. He then clatters into the Dutchman and gets a yellow.

20:29, 69'

England 1-1 Netherlands

Is this football or WWE?

The Dutch are fighting with England’s defenders from the corner trying to wrestle themselves free.

The referee isn’t happy with them and blows for a free-kick in England’s favour.

20:28, 68'

England 1-1 Netherlands

Jordan Pickford is called into action again as he is forced into punching a dangerous cross wide.

Denzel Dumfries was lurking at the back post so he had to do it.

The Netherlands are starting to apply pressure, England need to be careful.

20:26, 66'

England 1-1 Netherlands

Wout Weghorst is penalised for accidentally elbowing John Stones.

To be fair to the big man, he is so tall his elbow is just naturally at that height.

Still a foul, though.

20:25, 65'

BIG SAVE! England 1-1 Netherlands

Jordan Pickford to the rescue for England!

The first big chance of the second period goes to the Netherlands and it comes from a free-kick.

Joey Veerman swings in a stunning ball from deep and Virgil van Dijk gets on the end of it and prods it toward goal.

Thankfully for England, Pickford gets down low to push it wide.

Soccer Football - Euro 2024 - Semi Final - Netherlands v England - Dortmund BVB Stadion, Dortmund, Germany - July 10, 2024 England's Jordan Pickford in action as he makes a save from Netherlands' Virgil van Dijk REUTERS/Leon Kuegeler

20:23

'England's momentum has stopped'

Lee Dixon, former England defender, on ITV1:

The Dutch have certainly squeezed that triangle in the middle of the park. England’s momentum with passing and running has stopped. Foden certainly hasn’t been on the ball as much.

20:21, 61'

England 1-1 Netherlands

Cody Gakpo is one angry man, right now.

He plays the ball out to Denzel Dumfries and then screams for it back as he races into the area, but he doesn’t get it.

Instead, Dumfries shifts the ball to Joey Veerrman who looks to pick out Wout Weghorst in the box.

But he overshoots the cross and then Gakpo goes bezerk.

20:19

'Tempo has dropped'

Aadam Patel, Mail Sport, in Dortmund:

Fair to say the tempo has dropped in the second half. The Dutch look a lot more solid defensively but they’re so deep in their own half. England have got to make the pressure count.

20:18, 58'

England 1-1 Netherlands

The Netherlands have plugged the gaps that were open in the first half, in turn, they are nullifying Phil Foden.

If England are to break them open, they are going to have to be patient, and so are we.

20:16, 56'

England 1-1 Netherlands

This game has lost its pace significantly. nerves seem to have crept into both sides.

Let’s hope for the sake of our eyes that they revert back to their first-half bravery.

20:13, 53'

England 1-1 Netherlands

Luke Shaw’s first involvement is high up the pitch s he looks to fire a threatening cross into the box.

It’s not a very good delivery, though, and Denzel Dumfries is there to block it.

20:11

'England now four at the back'

Aadam Patel, Mail Sport, in Dortmund:

England have shifted to four at the back here, with Kyle Walker now at right-back and Bukayo Saka having much more freedom down the right wing. Interesting decision but clearly Gareth Southgate wanted to get Luke Shaw on so they could offer more of a threat down the left.

20:09, 50'

England 1-1 Netherlands

Where are you, Harry Kane? (again)

I feel like I have de ja vu as Bukayo Saka is in on the right and cuts the ball back into the middle for an England shirt to attack.

But no one is there. That has happened way too much this tournament.

DORTMUND, GERMANY - JULY 10: Bukayo Saka of England controls the ball whilst under pressure from Nathan Ake of the Netherlands during the UEFA EURO 2024 semi-final match between Netherlands and England at Football Stadium Dortmund on July 10, 2024 in Dortmund, Germany. 20:08, 49'

England 1-1 Netherlands

It’s been a bit of a subdues start to the second half.

England aren’t exactly renowned for coming out all guns blazing after the break.

It seems like it’s the same here.

20:05, 46'

SECOND HALF: England 1-1 Netherlands

Craig Hope was right, Luke Shaw is indeed coming on.

The full-back is moving to his usual left-hand side and replaces Kieran Trippier.

Ronald Koeman also makes a change. Wout Weghorst moves up top in place of Donyell Malen.

I’m guessing that means they are changing formation…

Anyway, we are back underway in Dortmund.

20:01

Foden's on Fire

My word, Phil Foden has been excellent today.

People have been calling out for Foden to bring his A-game and he just hasn’t found it this tournament.

Well, until today.

He could have had a brace in that first half, he was just very unlucky.

One shot off the line, and another off the post. Another day, and England are 3-1 up.

Fodemn has finally found his form.

19:59

WATCH: Kane levels from the spot

Was it ever in doubt?

Harry Kane doesn’t always net from the spot, but I never felt like he was going to miss.

It was the power that beat Bart Verbruggen in the end, and the placement too.

A brilliant penalty.

19:57

'Luke Shaw out warming-up'

Craig Hope, Mail Sport, in Dortmund:

Luke Shaw out warming-up by himself at the break. That’s usually the sign of an imminent change.

Now this is very interesting…

19:56

WATCH: Simons blasts Dutch in front

I mean, this was some strike, wasn’t it?

Xavi Simons was almost falling over as he smashes the ball into the top bins after just seven minutes.

England fans must have thought ‘Here we go again’ as this went in. To be honest, so did I.

A beauty.

19:54

SOFASCORE'S Half-Time Stats

This tells you all you need to know.

England were simply dominant in that half. More possession, more shots, more on target.

They swarmed the Dutch as soon as they went behind. We haven’t seen this from them for years.

They are still only level, though.

19:52

Ed Sheeran and Adele in the stands

Ed Sheeran and Adele have been spotted among the star-studded crowd in Germany cheering on the three Lions.

The ‘Shape of You’ singer could be seen smiling in his red England shirt alongside pals. While Adele looked incredibly trendy in a black suit jacket and white t-shirt combo.

19:50

'What a spectacle'

Aadam Patel, Mail Sport, in Dortmund:

I can’t be the only one who did not want that half to end. And I can’t be the only one who is surprised by how good that half was. What a spectacle.

England the better side, but the Dutch have had their chances too and one each is probably a fair scoreline given that the penalty was a tad fortunate. I can see Ronald Koeman rolling the dice first though.

19:50

HALF-TIME: England 1-1 Netherlands

A little bit of stress before half-time for England as the Dutch applied some pressure, but they held out.

Then Felix Zwayer puts the whistle to his lips and blows for half-time.

What a half of football for England, their best of the tournament by a street mile.

they went behind early after some brilliance from Xavi Simons, but only 11 minutes later Harry Kane levelled from the spot.

Phil Foden came close on a multitude of occasions as England hammered at the Dutch’s door, but it’s level at the break.

I did not want that half to end!

19:47, 47'

England 1-1 Netherlands

‘God save the King’ rings around Signal Iduna Park as the England fans give their boys a push just before the break.

they haven’t touched the ball yet in stoppage time, though.

19:46

THREE added minutes

Kieran Trippier tries to float a cross to Phil Foden who is lurking at the back post, but Bart Verburggen collects with ease.

Then the board displays that there will be three minutes of stoppage time.

Can England knick a goal before the break?

19:42, 42'

England 1-1 Netherlands

Now Kobbie Mainoo wants to have a go from outside the box, but his try is not such a good one.

The ball is certainly moving as it leaves his boot but it is deflected miles wide.

Nothing comes from the resulting corner.

19:41

'Foden's best half of the tournament'

Mike Keegan, Mail Sport, in Dortmund:

Phil Foden has had his best half of the tournament so far, and so have England. The worry is that they need to start converting these chances.

19:40, 40'

GOOD SAVE! England 1-1 Netherlands

This is the best Phil Foden has played for England in a very, very long time.

Yet again he fancies his chances from distance and he curls a brilliant strike toward the bottom corner.

It skims off the wet turf dangerously before Bart Verbruggen just about holds onto the ball.

19:38, 38'

England 1-1 Netherlands

England will want to capitalise on this display by getting another goal before half time.

It would be the least they deserve, they have been all over the Netherlands for the majority of this half.

19:37

'All the noise coming from England'

Mike Keegan, Mail Sport, in Dortmund:

All the noise coming from the England fans now as the Foden song echoes around the stadium. Might be worth changing Spain for Germany in the final line because, should they prevail here, that’s who England would play.

19:36, 35'

SUBSTITUTION: England 1-1 Netherlands

Oh dear, Memphis Depay is down clutching his hamstring.

He is going to have to come off, and he looks devastated. He could be out for a while with that.

Joey Veerman is on to replace him. Remember, he was hooked in the first half after a poor performance against Austria.

'England reminding people they can play'

Ian Ladyman, Mail Sport Football Editor, in Dortmund:

England finally reminding people they can play. Best game of the tournament so far.

19:34, 33'

OFF THE POST! England 1-1 Netherlands

Phil Foden has just crashed the post with an absolute scorching effort.

I’m not sure what he ate for breakfast but it’s certainly made a difference.

Foden picks up the ball 30 yards out, makes room for himself, and then bends an effort off the top of the post.

I thought that was in!

19:32

'Best England have played all Euros'

Craig Hope, Mail Sport, in Dortmund:

The 10 minutes after England’s goal was the best they’ve played all Euros. Foden, Saka and Mainoo at the heart of it. They feel like the better side here.

19:30, 30'

OFF THE BAR! England 1-1 Netherlands

I nearly jinxed it…

Denzel Dumfries crashes a header off the bar from a corner just as I hit send on the last post.

A warning sign that the Dutch are still in this.

19:29, 29'

England 1-1 Netherlands

This is the best England have played in this tournament by an absolute mile, not even close.

The midfield are gelling, they are not given the Netherlands much space to move whatsoever.

Keep this up and it will be a good day for the Three Lions.

19:27, 26'

England 1-1 Netherlands

How is that not a foul?

Phil Foden looks like he is away with just the keeper to beat, but he is pulled back and loses the ball.

I’m not sure why, but the referee just waves play on.

19:25

'Heck of a response from England'

Aadam Patel, Mail Sport, in Dortmund:

Heck of a response from England after going behind. They’re moving the ball so well and causing the Dutch all sorts of problems. England are playing with a confidence we haven’t seen much of in the tournament so far.

19:24, 24'

OFF THE LINE! England 1-1 Netherlands

How has that not gone in? I am in disbelief!

Phil Foden is in and dances around several defenders in the box, but he takes an age to pull the trigger.

Just as everybody is screaming for him to do so he rolls the ball under Bart Verburggen.

It’s just crossing the line before it’s hooked away at the critical moment by Denzel Dumfries.

19:22, 21'

England 1-1 Netherlands

I completely agree, Craig.

But England and their fans won’t care about that. They are level and are bouncing in that far corner.

This has been an incredible opening to the match, I’m not used to this intensity in England games!

19:20

'Never a penalty'

Craig Hope, Mail Sport, in Dortmund:

Mail Sport consensus in the press box… never a penalty.

19:20

'Top penalty'

Aadam Patel, Mail Sport, in Dortmund:

Top penalty. It’s the England fans behind the goal making all the noise now. We’re in for a cracker here.

19:18, 18'

Goal: England 1-1 Netherlands (Kane 18')

19:13, 12'

England 0-1 Netherlands

Goal: England 0-1 Netherlands (Simons 7')

It’s taken the Dutch just seven minutes…

19:07

'Dutch are determined to play out from the back'

Aadam Patel, Mail Sport, in Dortmund:

Early signs that the Dutch are determined to play out from the back. The way they moved the ball from the keeper to the final third there was quality. Ronald Koeman has been clear that they’re always under pressure to play good football. A positive start on that note for the Netherlands

19:05, 4'

England 0-0 Netherlands

Jeez, the Netherlands are lightning-quick on the counter.

England press them high up the pitch, but the Dutch just pass around them before Xavi Simons spots Donyell Malen on his bike.

Luckily for England, John Stones is there to recover.

19:03, 3'

England 0-0 Netherlands

The smoke inside the stadium from pyro and the fireworks is yet to have cleared.

England are enjoying the lion’s share of possession in the early moments, which they normally do.

The pitch is cutting up a little, just like it did against Denmark in Frankfurt. that must be due to the heavy rainfall.

I will say once again, this place is rocking.

19:02

The WAGs arrive

The WAGs are in the house, as the stunning women get ready to cheer on their partners in tonight’s nail-biting semi-final.

'God Save the King'

We have played down the England support compared to the Dutch today, but my word did they just do themselves proud.

It just gives me goosebumps, every single time.

First, we are treated to fireworks as the layers arise from the tunnel, which is some spectacle.

and then both sets of supporters belt their hearts out before the national anthems.

This is already a special night.

'Well done, England'

Ian Ladyman, Mail Sport Football Editor, in Dortmund:

Just to recap. This is England’s third major tournament semi-final in six years. Sometimes it’s worth just saying it to realise how far this team have come.

Yes, they haven’t played well in Germany and that’s certainly surprised me. But they are still here. Again. It is a habit we should never take for granted. Well done, England.

18:53

'No boos for Southgate'

Aadam Patel, Mail Sport, in Dortmund:

Gareth Southgate has just come out to applaud the England fans. No boos but will this be his last game as England manager? We’ll have a better idea in a couple of hours

18:53

All ready in London!

I thought England fans are meant to be nervous?

Going by this photo, fans back home in London are in high spirits ahead of a huge match.

Supporters across the country will be screaming in pubs, in their homes, and in beer gardens willing the Three Lions on.

Kick-off is nearly here!

VVD to lead Dutch to glory?

Virgil van Dijk knows what it takes to win trophies, that’s for sure.

The Netherlands captain has lifted plenty with Liverpool, but he is yet to do so with his country.

We know he is a rock at the back, and he will be desperate to keep a clean sheet tonight.

He has had plenty of battles with Harry Kane before…

He usually came out on top in them.

'Yellow Wall is Orange'

Craig Hope, Mail Sport, in Dortmund:

The Yellow Wall is the Orange Wall tonight, with the odd white brick in there. This is definitely Netherlands (away) for England, and they must be out-numbered by three to one at least. Saying that, there is a strong England contingent behind one goal, which could be significant if this goes to penalties…

'England fans are in fine voice'

Aadam Patel, Mail Sport, in Dortmund:

Well, the rain has stopped here and the England fans are in fine voice. They’re going to have to be too because England are heavily outnumbered by the Dutch inside the ground.

I reckon about two-thirds of those inside are Netherlands fans and that orange wall is going to be quite a sight. Plenty of England flags though and plenty of colour. Let’s hope we get plenty of entertainment.

England fans served ‘proper pints’ at the German pub made in Yorkshire

A Yorkshire pub owner gutted the interior of an English pub and transported it to Germany so fans could get a ‘proper pint’.

Paul Moss’s opened the New Crown, in Dortmund in 2021 because ‘he hates German bars’, but this summer it has become a safe haven for England fans during the Euros.

In 2019 the 52-year-old stripped the pub in Bridlington, North Yorkshire after it was put on the market due to slow business and transport everything, the beer taps, the bar, the stain glass windows, hundreds of miles to the town of Iserlohn.

He made sure to keep everything quintessential British though with portraits of her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth, posters of old gigs, and even a tube stop sign.

Speaking to the Times Moss said:’I hate German bars because they’re all a bit sterile, shiney and covered in chrome. The old sticky carpet, dark wood and warm bitter on a winter’s day is what you get from a British pub.

And he hopes the pub will be an 'outpost' for thirsty England fans during the Euros.

'A sea of Oranje'

Ian Ladyman, Mail Sport Football Editor, in Dortmund:

We suspected the Dutch would outnumber the English here and that’s certainly the case. There is one substantial bank of English fans on the lower tier behind one goal. That apart, it’s a sea of Oranje.

Countdown to kick-off…

Ding, ding, ding… Less than 30 minutes to go.

Are you all nervous, or excited? I presuming both, but mainly the first one.

The England players will be feeling exactly the same as you are right now as they make their final preparations.

They will have to channel it well, though, and not become a wreck.

Rice: 'We're relishing tonight'

England midfielder Declan Rice, speaking to ITV:

It’s been a rollercoaster but we’re really relishing it tonight. We’ve overcome some storms in the last few weeks and tonight is a big night for English football. [The formation] gives us outlets. Kobbie [Mainoo] next to me, I’ve been singing his praises. He loves to keep the ball and pass it.

When you drive in, you see all of the orange shirts and then you see the England shirts. We need to make the most of it. It’s about togetherness tonight above everything.

18:27

Enjoying the rain

The weather is not getting these England fans down!

When I first saw these photos I had a little chuckle, football fans make the best of any situation.

Maybe we will see Manchester United fans doing more of this at Old Trafford, next year.

Gareth Southgate: 'We've felt the support'

Gareth Southgate, England boss, speaking to ITV1:

I’m looking forward to the game. I said at the beginning of the tournament, we were too concerned with what could go wrong. We used the ball better in the quarter-finals. We obviously play a team that are another notch up from Switzerland.

Bukayo [Saka] can play higher. The team are settled. I think Marc [Guehi] has been excellent and we’ve got Luke [Shaw] who is very close to starting games.

We’ve felt that over the last few days. We said if we’re united with our fans then that gives everything a huge boost and I think we’ve got that now. It might seem normal to be a third semi-final but that is not the reality. You have to grasp these opportunites.

18:17

An early Birthday present?

Will Marc Guehi be celebrating early?

The England center-back’s birthday is on Saturday, just a day before the final.

If he could get rid of all his presents to make sure England will be there, I’m guessing he would do it.

He’s back in the team tonight so can make an impact!

Fans react to team news…

Mag, UK: I just can’t get excited about it , the playing style is so bland. Rather watch Sunday league far better.

Anonymous: The same team ?! What’s the definition of madness again?

Carly, London: Same team = disaster waiting to happen.

18:07

It's raining. it's pouring…

There’s rain… and then there’s rain.

Showers would not be the way to describe the downpour in Dortmund, it’s blimming chucking it down.

At least one England fans is enjoying himself, maybe he just needed to freshen up after a hot day.

Netherlands Team News – Malen STARTS

Donyell Malen is in for the Netherlands.

Ronald Koeman has decided to make just one change, with Malen replacing Steven Bergwijn.

None of the Dutch right-wingers have been able to nail down that spot, but tonight is Malen’s chance to shine.

Will he take it?

18:00

Mainoo makes history

What a day for Kobbie Mainoo.

If you told him a year ago that he would be playing for England in a Euros semifinal in 12 months, I bet he would laugh at you.

Well, he is certainly smiling today, but not because he is laughing.

Mainoo has put his name in the England record books by becoming the youngest Three Lion to start a major tournament semi-final.

17:58

Just the one change…

Alexa, play ‘Keep the Faith’ by Bon Jovi.

Gareth Southgate really is a loyal man, isn’t he? The England boss is sticking to what he knows.

While the performances have not been great, his players have pulled the team all the way to the last four.

Now they just need to start playing better football, then we will be dandy.

17:50

England Team News – Guehi RETURNS

Sami Mokbel has only gone and done it again.

The leaked team news was indeed spot on – as it always is – meaning Gareth Southgate has made just one change.

The sole player coming in is Marc Guehi after he served his one-match suspension against Switzerland.

Happy with the team? (I’m guessing not)

17:49

'My prediction is 2:1 to the Netherlands'

Ian Ladyman, Mail Sport Football Editor, in Dortmund:

Sami Mokbel, our Chief Football Reporter, has already told us that the only change to tonight’s England team will be Marc Guehi for Ezri Konsa. I would have liked to have seen Cole Palmer come in for Phil Foden, who I think has been far from his best at this tournament.

But Gareth Southgate has shown loyalty to his players right the way through this tournament and he clearly believes they have it in them to improve and get this job done. I think this one may be a step too far from England. My prediction is 2:1 to the Netherlands.

17:46

Share your thoughts?

We want to hear from you!

If you look to your right you will see a fancy new comments section, it looks fancy, right?

Well, it’s there waiting for you to feed your thoughts on the match all through the night.

There will be plenty to debate, so make sure you join in.

I always like to hear from our readers, your points of view are very interesting.

Opinions are what makes this sport so interesting.

17:43

The Orange Wall

Orange, all I see is orange.

Oliver Holt, our Chief Sports Writer, has already shared that the stadium is quickly filling up with Dutch fans.

It’s going to look mightily impressive when it’s full.

Will it effect the England players when they see it?

17:40

The return of Geuhi

We will be getting England’s team news very, very soon.

As we revealed to you earlier,r we expect only one change with Marc Guehi returning from suspension to replace Ezri Konsa.

Ow will Gareth Southgate throw a curveball at us?

I highly doubt it, he never does…

Three Lions arrive

It’s getting real now, isn’t it?

England have entered the building, and they look ready to do battle. There isn’t a smile in sight.

Is this what you like to see? A fully focused team.

Or would you rather they look a bit more relaxed than they do in these pictures?

I mean, I guess it doesn’t really matter.

The Oranje swarm

Mail Sport’s Craig Hope is now at Signal Iduna Park, but during his trip earlier all he saw was orange.

It’s fair to say, there isn’t an English person in sight, apart from Craig himself of course!

17:27

Atmosphere building

Wow, the atmosphere outside Signal Iduna Park is electric.

Many of the nicer Dutch fans have made their march toward the stadium as kick-off closes in.

Some supporters are already in the ground, such as these England boys.

Cheer up lads, it’s the Euros semi-final!

Ian Ladyman, Mail Sport Football Editor, in Dortmund:

Shearer: 'You don't leave out your captain'

Alan Shearer, former England captain, speaking about Harry Kane on BBC News:

I understand people asking the questions. Harry will himself say that he probably hasn’t performed or been as sharp as he would have wanted to be but he has got two goals.

But you don’t leave out your captain and your record goalscorer when you’re in a semi-final. I’d be amazed if that happened. I don’t see that happening.

Gakpo the danger man

Cody Gakpo has been on smoke this tournament!

I don’t know what he has been eating for breakfast in Germany, but it has got him firing on all cylinders.

Gakpo is certainly the danger man for the Netherlands and will be key for them against England.

He is the joint top scorer at this tournament with three goals, while also providing a superb assist against Romania.

If England can keep him quiet it will do wonders for their final hopes.

It will be hard, mind.

17:09

England's tournament record vs Dutch

This isn’t the first time these two sides have clashed in a major tournament.

When you think of England facing the Netherlands, your mind surely goes straight to the demolition of the Dutch in 1996.

It is perhaps the best tournament performance England have put in over the past three to four decades.

They were untouchable that day as Alan Shearer and Teddy Sheringham both bagged braces.

Gareth Southgate played too… and was booked.

Let’s have a look at the head-to-head in major tournaments in full, shall we?

'Several instances of Dutch fans attacking England fans'

Statement from a UK Football Policing Unit spokesperson:

We are aware of some reports and videos circulating of disorder in Dortmund. It appears that there have been several instances of Dutch fans attacking England fans in bars and attempting to steal flags.

We understand this has resulted in minor injuries to five people. We are also aware that in addition to the tens of thousands of Dutch fans there to enjoy the game, there are groups of risk supporters who have travelled to Dortmund from the Netherlands.

Our officers are at the location supporting German colleagues. We would advise supporters to be aware of their surroundings and seek areas where there is a German Police presence.

Mike Keegan, Mail Sport, in Dortmund:

Five England fans left injured after a series of attacks by Dutch hooligans on bars where they were drinking. UK Police say gangs of Dutch risk fans have travelled and have warned England supporters to seek areas where there are German Police.

The Dutch's road to Dortmund

The Netherlands took a while to get going in this tournament, but boy is their engine running beautifully now.

They crawled their way through the group stage, finishing in third place behind Austria and France.

However, strong displays against Romania and Turkey has restored hope within the Dutch faithful.

They come here today full of confidence… and this is how they got here:

  • MD1: Poland 1-2 Netherlands
  • MD2: Netherlands 0-0 France
  • MD3: Netherlands 2-3 Austria
  • LAST 16: Romania 0-3 Netherlands

How did England get here?

I think it’s fair to say it’s been a treacherous road for England.

They have stumbled their way to the semi-final after moments of brilliance from the likes of Jude Bellingham and Bukayo Saka.

The Three Lions started off on a positive note against Serbia, but results and performances since have left little to be desired.

But despite everything, they have still made it to the last four. Let’s have a look back at England’s results.

  • MD1: Serbia 0-1 England
  • MD2: Denmark 1-1 England
  • MD3: England 0-1 Slovenia

Calm before the storm

This place will be rocking in just a couple of hours time.

Signal Iduna Park is eerily quiet at this very second as fans still make their way to the ground.

I have a feeling tonight could be one of the best atmospheres of the tournament, it will be booming in there.

I’m itching to go already, but there is still a while to go.

16:34

Flags going up already!

Ahhhh, there are some England fans in Dortmund then…

With the lack of evidence that were many there, I was starting to get worried for a second that it would be a sea of orange.

But some of the Three Lions faithful are already inside Signal Iduna Park marking their territory.

How loud will they be later? We will have to wait and see.

'Not so friendly Dutch fans'

Updates are coming in from the streets of Dortmund.

It seems the alleged attacks from Netherlands fans were unprovoked, according to a fan on X.

This is never nice to see.

16:25

Dortmund dominated by Dutch

Remember, it’s only a select few that give fans a bad name.

More photos have just come through of happy Netherlands fans marching toward Signal Iduna Park.

It’s honestly hard to fathom just how many Dutch supporters are in Dortmund.

They are everywhere, literally everywhere.

Dutch fans 'ATTACK' the English

Oh dear, oh dear… this is not what you want to see.

For most of the day, we have seen both the Dutch and English fans enjoying their days in unison with no problems.

Unfortunately, the ugly side of football fandom has reared its head again.

It seems that Dutch fans have allegedly attacked English fans in a pub prior to the match.

Ugly scenes, very ugly.

I hope that all fans on the receiving end of these disgusting actions are OK.

16:13

The Harry Kane conundrum

We have touched on this already, but now we have a deeper analysis for you to have a look at.

Harry Kane’s performances have been splitting hairs at this tournament since the very beginning.

Mail Sport’s Chief Sports Writer, Oliver Holt, has written up a brilliant piece on the problem Gareth Southgate faces with Kane.

Should he be dropped?

Gareth Southgate: 'Different reasons for making changes'

Gareth Southgate, England manager, speaking about substitutions on Tuesday:

There are different reasons for making changes. We were happy with the way the team were playing in previous games but we have made a sub at half-time, it’s not pre-conditioned.

You are always looking at the freshness of the team and the balance of the team and whether changes are going to make an improvement to the team or not. But all of the players go into the game in good condition. The game will take us in a certain direction that will make that decision for us.

DORTMUND, GERMANY - JULY 09: Gareth Southgate, Head Coach of England attends the press conference of England at Football Stadium Dortmund on July 09, 2024 in Dortmund, Germany.

16:04

Southgate's lack of subs

Right, it’s time to touch one of this week’s hot topics.

Gareth Southgate came under fire for his decision-making against Switzerland in the quarter-final.

If you don’t know why, I’ll tell you.

Southgate did not make any changes until England went 1-0 down in the 75th minute, despite the Three Lions struggling in the second half.

His refusal to switch things up was confusing as it was clear as day that the players on the pitch were flagging.

If the performance is similar today, he will have to make some early changes.

Otherwise, it could be too late…

15:57

'Southgate you're the one!'

He may be like Marmite, but he has a brilliant record.

Tonight will be England’s third quarter-final in just four tournaments under Gareth Southgate.

They hadn’t managed to reach that stage in nine tournaments prior…

Remember, the grass isn’t always greener. The days before these were pretty gloomy.

15:47

England fans in confident mood

Mail Sport have managed to find some England fans. It’s like finding a needle in a haystack with the amount of Dutch in Dortmund.

The ones that we have spoken to seem fairly confident that England can get the job done tonight.

One fan said he keeps saying ‘it can’t get any worse’. It could, though, England could get knocked out this evening.

Imagine the Three Lions play their best football all tournament tonight, but still get sent packing.

That would be brutal.

Should Kane be dropped?

Well, Harry Kane appears to be the topic of mass debate.

The England captain has provided so many big moments for England over the years. He’s Gareth Southgate’s Mr. Reliable’.

However, he hasn’t had the best of tournaments…

Fans have not been best pleased with Kane and it seems their patience has run thin with him. They want him to be dropped.

It’s such a tough call because even when Kane is not on it he comes up with so many big goals.

But England do have some good options, including Ivan Toney.

Despite all of this, though, we expect Kane to be leading the line yet again this evening.

It’s time for him to turn up.

More fan reaction to leaked team…

Anonymous: Harry Kane should not be playing.

RB, Lincoln: England need a manager who can make the right selection, best left back is now fit and he keeps Trippier in – even if Shaw does 75 mins it’s better than 75 mins of an unbalanced team – Toney or Palmer for Kane.

Anonymous: If Kane is playing then we should drop golden boy Foden for Toney, swap Saka and Trippier over, and tell them to hit crosses in, with this I hope Foden makes me eat my words but I doubt it.

Why so many Dutch fans?

Dortmund is a sea of Orange today.

Every direction you look in there are thousands of people donning the orange shirt of the Netherlands.

But how come there are so many fans?

Well, the Dutch usually travel well, but the fact that Dortmund isn’t very far away really helps.

The weather is good too, so it’s a cracking day out for even those who do not have tickets.

Expect to see an orange wall replacing the yellow wall later.

'Fan frustration seeping into players'

Paul McVeigh, former Premier League star turned sports psychologist, on how fans frustration is affecting England:

Lots of the body language from my side looks like frustration if I was to put it into a category. I feel like the frustration is coming from the fans who are watching who are used to seeing these world-class players playing every week and expecting them to do the same things in the Euros.

I think that frustration from the crowd is starting to seep into the players. But ultimately the players are handling a very difficult experience and that’s what you have to put into perspective.

Lack of changes cause for concern?

England fans, you are not happy…

It’s been a running theme this tournament that the Three Lions faithful haven’t been best pleased with Gareth Southgate’s team selections.

The story is exactly the same today, it hasn’t taken me long to figure out that none of you are happy with the leaked team.

If England win tonight, will it change your feelings?

Fan reaction to leaked team…

Anonymous: Honestly, if that is the team I can’t believe it. So many questions starting with why isn’t Palmer starting? If Shaw can play and he’s your number 1 right back then play him. Southgate is a chump.

Anonymous: Excellent team choice by Gareth. We’re so lucky to have him as England manager.

I detect a hint of sarcasm…

'Trippier has done a fantastic job'

Gareth Southgate, England manager, speaking on Tuesday:

Luke Shaw has been injured for four months, it wasn’t a possibility for him to play until the last match where he made a good contribution. We have to decide if he is ready to start but we are very happy to have him back.

He gives us balance, but Kieran Trippier has done a fantastic job. He has had many important nights with us over the last seven or eight years. He’s great around the squad, we are very fortunate to have players like him in our squad.

No Shaw?

Luke Shaw is going to have to wait then…

After returning from injury off the bench against Switzerland, hopes of a return to the starting 11 skyrocketed for Shaw.

He certainly looked in good knick when during his cameo against the Swiss, he gave England an injection of energy.

But it seems Kieran Trippier will keep his place on the left.

Shaw said he was ready, but obviously, Southgate wants to give him more time (not that there is much left).

I wonder how many minutes he will get?

Team news thoughts?

So, now you have been reminded, what are you all thinking?

In all honesty, the trend throughout this tournament has shown that Gareth Southgate likes to stick with what he knows.

Ideally, you’d expect more changes to be made after the performances this tournament, but you can never expect them.

So, personally, I’m not surprised he is just making the one.

But should he have made more, that is the question? And if you think he should have, who would you bring in?

England's 'LEAKED' Starting XI

England can never keep their team news quiet!

Mail Sport’s Sami Mokbel is a genius when it comes to nailing down England’s line-up before they take to the turf.

Information within the England camp has allowed Sami to pull together what tonight’s England team will be.

Well, it’s not going to look much different.

There will be just one change to the side that started the quarter-final with Switzerland, with Marc Guehi coming in for Ezri Konsa.

It means Luke Shaw is not yet trusted to start…

14:44

Four hours and counting…

Thank you for holding the fort Michael, you have done a magnificent job, as always!

We are still love four hours from kick-off, and there is a lot to get through. So, don’t go anywhere.

I think we should remind ourselves of the leaked team news, don’t you?

Where are England's stars from the 4-1 win over the Netherlands at Euro 96 now?

England’s team from the famous Euro 96 win over the Netherlands have taken very different paths in the 28 years since.

Many have remained in the game, namely England boss Gareth Southgate.

Others have dipped their toes into the world outside football, including several appearances on talent shows.

Mail Sport looks at the Three Lions’ team of 1996 and where they are now.

14:00

England's greatest ever tournament display?

Worth pointing out to Ruud Gullit that ‘Three Lions’ became the unofficial soundtrack to England’s run to the Euro 96 semi-finals.

England’s best performance of that run came against the Netherlands in the group stage.

Alan Shearer and Teddy Sheringham both scored twice as England earned a crushing 4-1 win in one of the most-acclaimed performances ever given by The Three Lions.

Mail Sport’s Joe Bernstein has caught up with Sheringham for an exclusive interview about that match and why he is backing Harry Kane to find his form at Euro 2024.

Dutch legend Ruud Gullit claims England song 'jinxes it all'

Mail Sport has caught up with Dutch legend Ruud Gullit in Dortmund.

Gullit was a key member of the Netherlands squad that won the European Championships in 1988.

He scored the opening goal in their 2-0 with in the final, with current Netherlands boss Ronald Koeman among his team-mates.

Gullit has given his thoughts ahead of tonight’s match and has claimed England fans singing the classic ‘Three Lions’ song acts as a jinx to their chances.

Where Netherlands stars like to put their penalties

Pickford’s extensive homework for penalties has been key to the England goalkeeper’s impressive record in shoot-outs.

A photograph of Pickford’s water bottle during the match later showed the predicted sides that each Switzerland player would take their penalties.

Not that we are predicting tonight’s match will go all the way to penalties, but you can be sure Pickford will be prepared for such an occassion.

If you are wondering how Pickford’s ‘cheat sheet’ might look for the Netherlands’ likely penalty takers, Mail Sport has you covered.

Jordan Pickford has gone from king of chaos to England's calming influence

Jordan Pickford proved to be one of England’s shoot-out heroes against Switzerland.

His penalty save from Manuel Akanji gave the Three Lions the platform to go on to win the shootout.

Pickford has saved four shootout penalties at major tournaments from the 14 he has faced.

Between 1990 and 2012, his predecessors saved two from 36.

Mail Sport’s Craig Hope has taken a closer look at how Pickford has gone from being reprsenting chaos and hyperactivity to being a calming influence.

OLIVER HOLT: If you criticise and abuse Gareth Southgate, take a look at yourself

Mail Sport’s chief sports writer Oliver Holt has taken a look at how Gareth Southgate has helped to transform England’s fortunes.

He notes that while fans have been critical and at times abusive to the England boss in recent times, Southgate deserves more respect having led the Three Lions to three semi-finals in four tournaments.

Southgate is a win away from back-to-back European Championship finals.

The England boss, who was so linked with his penalty miss at Euro 1996, has been central to changing the narrative around shoot-outs.

Keir Starmer backs England to beat the Netherlands – and jokes Three Lions have not missed a penalty under his Labour government

Keir Starmer has backed Southgate’s squad to book their place in the Euro 2024 final, but the new Prime Minister will not able to watch due to attending the NATO summit in Washington.

Starmer is hoping officials will keep him updated on the Three Lions score via diplomatic notes at the meetings.

He has also joked the Three Lions have not missed a penalty under his Labour government having dispatched all five of their spot kicks in the shoot-out against Switzerland.

‘I understand our phones are all taken off us, when we go into the Council, so I’ve not doubt we’ll be passed lots of notes with really important information about the summit, and one or two of those notes hopefully will be an update on the score, because I’m not going to be able to get it otherwise,’ Starmer said.

‘I’ve sent a message to the team, obviously I wish them well, I want them to win, and let’s hope they can do it.

‘I’d remind you, England have not missed a penalty under a Labour government in 2024.’

England supporters have been warned by German police not to sing ”10 German bombers’ at Euro 2024.

Carragher – 'We can’t disguise the fact England have been poor'

Former England defender Jamie Carragher has been speaking on Sky Sports.

Carragher admits he is surprised be Southgate’s comments that England have played with ‘fear’ at the tournament.

The pundit believes England fans cannot escape from the fact the Three Lions have not played well at Euro 2024 despite reaching the last four.

Carragher, however, has predicted England will face enough to reach the final and is backing them to do it… on penalties.

It does surprise me a little bit, maybe because the expectation is so great on this team because of what they have done before. When I was playing it almost felt like the quarter-final was par and a semi-final was an unbelievable achievement,’ Carragher said.

It almost feels like now a semi-final is par for this group and that is a credit to them.

We can’t disguise the fact the team has been poor. The last game they started well for the first 15 to 20 minutes but we have won one game in five [in normal time]. There are very few players in the team who you could say are having a great tournament, it doesn’t feel like that.

It felt like something shifted with those celebrations after the penalties, like “we are in the semi-final and where we need to be”. We need to see the real England now and that may come from playing better opposition.

I think England just do it, it will be really tight and I wouldn’t be surprised if it goes to penalties. I think England go through on penalties.

There is a sea of orange at the Friedensplatz fan zone in the city, where their supporters have arrived on masse.

Netherlands suffer travel CHAOS ahead of semi-final

Could this be a potential boost for England?

Ronald Koeman and his Netherlands squad were left stranded on a station platform in stifling temperatures on Tuesday as they started their trip to Dortmund.

Dutch officials were forced to scramble for alternative arrangements when news filtered through that the Wolfsburg to Dortmund service they were waiting for had been cancelled thanks to a blockage on the line.

Instead of arriving in Dortmund ahead of a 7.45pm press conference on Tuesday night at the stadium, an emergency flight was booked to depart at 8.20pm.

That meant the Netherlands missed the opportunity for a warm-up and familiarisation session at Borussia Dortmund’s stunning Signal Iduna Park stadium.

Koeman laughed off the disruption in an interview, insisting his squad had been able to relax having had a 30 minute flight to Dortmund.

England fans excitement reaches fever pitch in Dortmund

The Three Lions are expected to be backed by 40,000 fans in Dortmund.

Only a small number will have been able to get tickets for the semi-final, but that has not stopped fans from bringing a party atmosphere to the city.

Gareth Southgate and his side will hope not…

Fans are out in force in Dortmund

England and Netherlands fans have descended on Dortmund ahead of tonight’s semi-final.

There may still be eight hours to go until kick-off but the atmosphere looks to be building nicely in the city.

England are expected to be outnumbered for the first time at the tournament this evening.

Mail Sport’s Mike Keegan reported that officials expect Ronald Koeman’s side to be backed by the majority of what will be a sold-out 80,000 crowd in Dortmund.

A 60-40 split is on the cards inside the stadium, while the Dutch will have half of Dortmund’s famous ‘Yellow Wall’. The remainder of those tickets went on general sale.

How England are expected to line-up…

While there are plenty of opinions over the England team, there is expected to be only one change for tonight’s semi-final.

Gareth Southgate is predicted to stick with the same system the Three Lions deployed against Switzerland, according to information from sources close to the camp.

Mail Sport’s Sami Mokbel reports that centre back Marc Guehi, who was suspended for the quarter-final against Switzerland, is pushing for a recall in place of Ezri Konsa.

Luke Shaw is fit to start but Kieran Trippier is hopeful of keeping his place on the left.

Harry Kane will continue up front, despite concerns over his form and fitness.

Mail Sport experts select their England's semi-final line-up

Gareth Southgate has made few changes to his starting line-up at Euro 2024.

The England manager’s main problem area was central midfield ahead of the tournament, with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Conor Gallagher and now Kobbie Mainoo having played alongside Declan Rice.

Southgate opted for a hybrid formation for the quarter-final win over Switzerland, switching between a back four and a back three.

He could have some decisions to make tonight with Marc Guehi available again after suspension, while Luke Shaw has declared himself fit after coming on against Switzerland.

Mail Sport experts Chris Sutton, Oliver Holt, Ian Ladyman, Craig Hope, Sami Mokbel and Mike Keegan have picked their England line-ups for the semi-final.

LISTEN: On today's EUROS DAILY, have England been playing with fear at Euro 2024

England boss Gareth Southgate admitted this week that his players have been guilty of playing with fear at times during Euro 2024.

I had to correct how the players were viewing things. But, of course, that feeling was being reinforced so vocally and actively outside and I think they were picking up on that too much,’ Southgate said on Tuesday.

Maybe it was expectation. Maybe it was a lot of external things as well. But now they’re very much in a “what’s achievable, what’s possible” sort of mindset.

‘We saw a truer reflection of ourselves in the last game and there was a lot within that to build on and take into the game.’

In the the latest episode of Mail Sport’s It’s All Kicking Off Euros Daily podcast, Mail Sport’s Ian Ladyman and Oliver Holt have discussed Southgate’s comments.

They pose the question whether England can shake off the fear ahead of tonight’s semi-final with the Netherlands.

09:12

It's death or glory now…

Mail Sport’s Football Editor and It’s All Kicking Off podcast host Ian Ladyman offers the perfect scene setter for tonight’s match.

He notes that while it is the third semi-final in four tournaments for England under Gareth Southgate’s management, the mood feels different now.

Ladyman suggests we are now approaching the end of the Southgate eta, with gratitude to the England boss having eroded and a sense of entitlement having returned.

'There will be no free pass for Southgate and his players if they lose tonight,' Ladyman writes.

'They haven’t played well in Germany, haven’t scored goals and haven’t entertained. They have muddled through.

'Once upon a time that would have been enough, but not any more. So here in Dortmund it will be death or glory for England.'
