A 79-year-old man has died after being hit by a car as police hunt for the driver who failed to stop.
Emergency services rushed to Abell Road in Melonba, about 51km northwest of Sydney’s CBD, at 11.45pm on Sunday following reports a man was injured on the side of the road.
Paramedics worked desperately to save him, but he died at the scene.
The man has not yet been formally identified.
Police believe he was hit by a black sedan which was travelling eastbound on the road.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
