Fans accuse more artists of miming after Dua Lipa hit back at critics over her headline performance while Cyndi Lauper’s set is beset by problems

Fans have accused more artists of miming at Glastonbury after Dua Lipa hit back at critics over her headline performance.

Music-lovers watching the festival have taken to social media to share their verdicts on the performances and sound, with some accusing musicians of lip-syncing during their sets.

Artists including Camila Cabello, Chris Martin and Coldplay have been called out for allegedly miming.

It comes amid other complaints about the quality of the sound, with Cyndi Lauper’s performance on Saturday beset by problems.

Another said: ‘Is it me, or are a lot of these Artists, singing (miming) to backing tracks at Glastonbury. Jeez man I thought that’s the one place you do it live. Anyhoo as long as the Crowd enjoys it suppose’

Someone said: ‘Chris Martin is DEFINITELY miming what the f***, this is Glastonbury.’

While someone else questioned if anyone sings at festivals these days, they posted: ‘Does anyone actually sing at festivals anymore? It’s all miming I swear.’

The quality of the television broadcast was questioned by some too, with one person posted, ‘Sound is a bit lame on BBC.’

Another said: ‘What has the BBC done to sound quality at Glastonbury this year on TV? Absolute rubbish. You can barely hear the vocalists and overall quality sucks. I’m sick of paying for license and they have ruined the festival high lights for me.’

It comes after pop star Dua Lipa defiantly told The Mail on Sunday: ‘I don’t mime’, after fans accused her of lip-syncing during her headline Glastonbury set.

It was the 28-year-old’s dream come true to play the world-famous Pyramid stage. But her performance in front of tens of thousands of fans on Friday was dogged by accusations that was not actually singing on stage.

However, when our reporter caught up with her in the VIP area yesterday, she shrugged off the criticism.

‘I don’t mime,’ said the Grammy Award-winner as she toasted her headline success with her actor boyfriend Callum Turner, 34, in an exclusive bar at the Worthy Farm festival site.

The pair were seen cuddling up after arriving from their luxury hotel ten miles from Glastonbury.

The singer was accused of lip-syncing by those watching coverage of the festival on the BBC on Friday night.

Glastonbury fans say Cyndi Lauper, 71, 'was really let down' as singer suffers 'awful' sound problems during her set: 'I felt so bad for her!'

‘Imagine paying all that money to go Glastonbury to stand there and watch Dua Lipa mime the song and not even sing it. How bad,’ one said.

Another wrote online: ‘Dua Lipa delivering a Top of the Pops mime set’.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, one wrote: ‘It’s a shame #DuaLipa can’t sing live. Don’t turn up to glasto and mime. Rubbish.’

Another said: ‘Dua Lipa has some decent catchy tunes, but I’m fairly sure she’s lip syncing. Sounds like a live vocal, but just not convinced she’s singing it live ‘right now’.’

Informed sources say the mime claim is false.

During Ms Lipa’s performance there were numerous large Palestine flags so close to the stage that they were seen both on the big screens at the venue and on the BBC’s coverage.

The singer previously urged world leaders to help de-escalate the crisis in Gaza and Israel.

While she did not directly comment on the war during her performance, which included hit songs such as Levitating, she did appear to run out into the crowd to sing closer to a flag that read ‘Glasto for Palestine’.

Dua Lipa is hailed by fans for 'magical' Glastonbury performance

Many viewers were captivated by the singer’s two-hour performance at Glastonbury and took to social media to call her performance ‘magical.’

‘Smashed it dua lipa’ and ‘Dua Lipa’s been pretty good actually. I only know One Kiss, but her voice is better than I’d thought it would be. Look forward to seeing her in the Sunday afternoon legend slot in about 25 years time’.

Dua said she had dreamed about headlining Glastonbury Festival ‘my whole life’ as she kicked off the Pyramid stage slot.

The pop superstar opened her first headline performance at the British festival with impressive choreography to her hit track Training Season from her third studio album, Radical Optimism, which released earlier this year.

She told the crowd: ‘I can’t believe this, I’ve dreamed about this my whole life.’

During her performance, the audience could be heard singing loudly along to the words of her 2018 track One Kiss with Calvin Harris.

Glastonbury organizer Emily Eavis said the pop star was ‘born’ to headline the festival.

While she did not directly comment on the war during her performance, which included hit songs such as Levitating, the singer appeared to run into the crowd to sing near a Palestine flag at one point

It comes after Cyndi Lauper’s Glastonbury performance on Saturday was hit with criticism after major sound problems disrupted the set.

Festival goers were left struggling to hear the Girls Just Wanna Have Fun singer’s vocals as her voice was drowned out by rumbling bass.

After a few songs, Cyndi, 71, performed Rocking Chair and she seemed to struggle with her pitch and timing.

The sound issues appeared to have been resolved by the time she got to her hit I Drove All Night.

But Cyndi faltered again on her 1984 track Time After Time as she lagged behind the band – suggesting she was having trouble with her in-ear monitors.

Other celebrities seen at the festival included Alexa Chung, actress Anya Taylor-Joy and model Cara Delevingne. TV presenter Maya Jama was also spotted with her rapper boyfriend Stormzy.

Some fellow festival-goers opted for wacky outfits to watch the performances – with one even hopping around as a kangaroo.

On Saturday, Coldplay were set to headline on the Pyramid stage in what was their fifth appearance at the festival.

Earlier, two showbusiness veterans performed. Pop icon Cyndi Lauper belted out hits including Girls Just Wanna Have Fun on the main stage.

And actor Russell Crowe jetted in on Friday for his debut at the festival. He played on the acoustic stage with his band, Indoor Garden Party.

Rockers Kasabian were the secret act yesterday, causing chaos after too many people flocked to see them that access to the stage had to be shut due to overcrowding fears.

It is understood that Glastonbury chiefs told partners to limit celebrity invites this year amid worries that it could ‘lose its down to earth roots.’

But no one seemed to have relayed that to the posh Soho House pop-up club – which was serving up sea bream for £34.

has contacted the BBC and Glastonbury Festival for comment.
