A 17-year-old boy has tragically died after falling from his skateboard at a Center Parcs.

The ‘distressing’ incident took place at the popular holiday destination at Woburn Forest, Bedfordshire, on Thursday October 26 which was during half-term for schools.

The teenager was rushed to Bedford Hospital South Wing in an air ambulance but he died shortly after.

A Center Parcs spokesman told : ‘It is with great sadness that we confirm, following an incident at Center Parcs Woburn Forest, a guest tragically passed away last week.

‘This is a distressing time and our thoughts are with their family and friends. At this time we are also supporting colleagues who assisted the emergency services and express our gratitude to both.’

The East of England Ambulance Service confirmed the teenager died after falling off his skateboard.

A spokesperson said: ‘We were called at 3.54pm on Thursday 26th October to Center Parcs Woburn Forest with reports that a teenage boy had fallen from his skateboard.

‘An ambulance, ambulance officer vehicle and a response car from the Magpas Air Ambulance were sent to the scene.

‘The boy was transported to Bedford Hospital South Wing for treatment.’

The Woburn Forest site, which opened back in 2014, is the newest Center Parcs in Britain and it boasts a subtropical pool and spa.

In September, a female staff member died in a ‘tragic accident’ at the same Center Parcs.

Grandmother Penny Bulpitt, who was in her 60s, was fatally injured after being hit by a car at the Woburn Forest site.

Her heartbroken loved ones described her as the ‘backbone of our family’ and a ‘fantastic mum and grandmother’.

That tragedy came just months after another woman, who was in her 30s, died during an ‘unexplained’ medical incident at Center Parcs in Elveden Forest, Suffolk.

The owner of Center Parcs, Brookfield Property Partners, is reportedly in talks with some of its own investors about the sale of a stake in the chain amid a stuttering £5billion auction.

Sky News reported in September that the firm, which has owned the chain since 2015, has held talks with a number of the limited partners in its funds.

Suitors have so far refused to meet the £5billion valuation.

Center Parcs draws in millions of visitors each year across its five sites as well as its newest village at Longford Forest in Ireland which opened in 2019.

The company opened its first village in The Netherlands back in 1968.
