Former cop Mark Williams-Thomas, infamous for being slammed by Gerry and Kate McCann for unwantedly sharing his theories about Madeleine McCann’s disappearance, has been rebuked by Jay Slater’s mother after offering his services to her.

Williams-Thomas, who made headlines late last year for his involvement with a documentary that attempted to exonerate Lady Michelle Mone and her husband’s company over alleged PPE fraud, today said he would be able to work out whether there was ‘third party involvement’ in Jay;s disappearance.

He took to X to say: ‘I have this morning reached out to missing Jay Slater’s mum offering the help of my team to get her answers as to what has happened to Jay.

‘Lots of speculation about what could have happened and if they give me total access and with feet on the ground I will very quickly be able to say if his disappearance is him alone or if it has third party involvement.’

But when asked about Williams-Thomas’ offer, Debbie simply told : ‘Who is he? I’ve never heard of him.’

Lancashire Police have offer of help in search declined

Lancashire Police previously confirmed it has offered support to the Guardia Civil, which is its equivalent on the island of Tenerife, but this was declined by the Spanish authorities.

In a statement released on Friday, the force said:

First and foremost, our thoughts are with Jay’s family at this time. They must be going through the most distressing ordeal not knowing what has happened to their loved one.

We have specialist officers who are continuing to support Jay’s family.

Whilst this case falls outside the jurisdiction of UK policing, we have made an offer of support to the Guardia Civil to see if they need any additional resources. They have confirmed that at this time they are satisfied that they have the resources they need, but that offer remains open and they will contact us should that position change.

Once again, our thoughts remain with Jay’s family and friends at this distressing time.

Jay Slater’s mother hits out at vile ‘Karen Matthews’ trolls

As Debbie Duncan was issuing a heartbreaking plea to find her son, she also defended herself against vile trolls who have cruelly compared her to Karen Matthews.

Debbie, who is on the Spanish island with Jay’s father and brother, did not visit the Tenerife beauty spot where the search to try and find him is being carried out.

The other family members journeyed to a remote gorge above the village of Masca, 19 miles from the party resort of Playa de les Americas at an altitude of 3000ft to where Jay’s mobile phone last pinged on Monday morning.

But Debbie has revealed her choice not to attend with them has caused her to be on the receiving end of vile social media trolls who have compared her to Karen Matthews.

Debbie said: ‘People keep saying on social media why aren’t I up there and calling me the new Karen Matthews, I just can’t face it.’
