The return date of HBO hit series House Of The Dragon has been confirmed.

The Game Of Thrones sequel will premiere in the ‘early summer’ 2024 according to HBO network chief Casey Bloys.

The exec was in attendance at a press event in New York on Thursday as the first trailer for the second season was screened exclusively for press according to Variety.

However details will be kept under wraps as the contents of the footage are under embargo.

Regardless it is an exciting time to be a Got Fan as Bloys talked about the other upcoming spin-offs during a Q&A portion.

Casey expects spin-off A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight to begin filming next spring barring if the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike ends by then.

House Of The Dragon premiered the 10-episode first season on August 21, 2022.

The first episode drew major ratings as it earned a whopping 10million viewers which lead to the season 2 renewal within just week of the premiere episode.

Each of the House of the Dragon Season 1 episodes averaged 29 million viewers in the U.S.

The series is set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones and is based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood novels.

Filming on Season 2 began in May despite the writers’ strike in the US as production moved forward in the UK, according to a source for Variety.

An insider told the publication that scripts for the series had already been completed for some time and that it would have no effect on filming.

Filming was also not affected by the Screen Actors Guild strike – due to local union rules.

The cast of the show is primarily composed of British actors working under Equity contracts, rather than SAG-AFTRA.

While Equity has voiced its support with the Hollywood union, Equity members aren’t legally allowed to strike in solidarity.

The union released a memo: ‘Because of existing anti-trade union laws in the UK, SAG-AFTRA members currently working under an Equity UK collective bargaining agreement should continue to report to work.

‘A performer joining the strike (or refusing to cross a picket line) in the UK will have no protection against being dismissed or sued for breach of contract by the producer or the engager.

‘Likewise, if Equity encourages anyone to join the strike or not cross a picket line, Equity itself will be acting unlawfully and hence liable for damages or an injunction.’

Therefore, even though House of the Dragon is a HBO series which is based in the US, actors who are SAG-AFTRA members but working in the UK under an Equity contract are required to report to work.

Ryan Condal, showrunner and executive producer of the series, teased what fans can expect from season two, saying: ‘House of the Dragon has returned.

Epic: The series is set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones and is based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood novels (Wil Johnson, Matt Smith and Theo Nate are seen left to right)

‘We are thrilled to be shooting again with members of our original family as well as new talents on both sides of the camera.

‘All your favorite characters will soon be conspiring at the council tables, marching with their armies, and riding their dragons into battle.

‘We can’t wait to share what we have in store.’

The first season received acclaim from critics, with particular praise given to the show’s visual effects and character development.
