An n government agency has issued a warning over a popular aerosol sunscreen brand.
The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) has said the instructions on bottles of Bondi Sands Everyday Protection Face SPF 50+ Sunscreen Mist were unclear.
The instructions are ‘not clear, particularly about use on the face’, the TGA said.
‘If you spray the sunscreen mist directly onto your face this may cause accidental inhalation, local irritation of nose, mouth, and throat, as well as coughing and sneezing,’ it warned.
Instead, people have been told they should spray the sunscreen onto their hands first before putting it on their face.

The sunscreen should also only be applied in a well-ventilated area.

The TGA warning followed an American in warning other travellers last month about the serious threat of UV radiation and skin cancer Down Under.

But a survey of 1,000 ns by the Skin Health Institute in 2019 revealed many in their 20s and 30s believe they are too young too need a skin check.
Sunscreen use not only reduces the risk of skin cancer and sunburn, it also reduces the ageing effect of the sun.
SPF – sun protection factor – is a measure of how long it takes for UVB rays to burn the skin with sunscreen applied compared to unprotected skin.
So if skin protected with sunscreen takes 300 seconds to burn but bare skin burns in 10 seconds, the SPF is 30 (300 divided by 10).
